Replacing My Base Station and Transfer Service to a New Base Station
Updated
There may be a point where you will need to transfer your system and service to a new or different Base Station, such as replacing a faulty Base Station or transferring to a new Base Station when you move or upgrade your system.
STOP! This article is for Gen 3 SimpliSafe® Systems only. If you are currently an Original SimpliSafe® user and are upgrading to Gen 3, please visit our Upgrading to Gen 3 SimpliSafe® article. Unsure of which system you have? You can learn more about the differences between the two systems on our Help Center!
Before Getting Started
To complete this process, you’ll need the following items available:
A Phillips head screwdriver
All Keypads paired to your system
Your phone
Optional: A computer or tablet, if you would prefer to not switch between instructions and the SimpliSafe® app on your phone
You will also need to complete the following steps prior to getting started:
Unpair any Smart Locks, Motion Sensor Gen 2s, or cameras in use by this system.
To unpair your products
Open the SimpliSafe® App on your phone or tablet
Navigate to My System from the bottom navigation bar
Choose Device Settings or Camera Settings
Select your device or camera
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select X Remove Device
Repeat this step for each additional product
Disarm your system by setting its status to ‘OFF’
If Your Motion Sensor Gen 2 Was NOT Unpaired Before Replacing the Base Station
In order to transfer to your new Base Station properly, any Motion Sensor Gen 2s on your system must be unpaired prior to completing the Base Station replacement.
If they were not unpaired, you must power cycle each sensor after the Base Station replacement is complete. To power cycle the sensor:
Slide the sensor up and off its bracket. This may require some light force to add leverage to, especially if you did not wall mount the sensor
Remove the battery from the sensor and leave it out for at least 2-3 seconds
Place the battery back in the sensor
Slide the sensor back onto its bracket
