Snooze Notification for Camera Motion

It would really be nice to be able to turn off all doorbell cameras at one time.  If I'm working in the yard I usually turn them off. Now I have to go through that for each doorbell cam.

Great news everyone!

The Snooze Notification feature is now available for all users. You can access the option when a Camera Motion Notification appears.

This feature is available for all camera types - Outdoor Camera, Video Doorbell Pro, and Indoor Camera - and for all accounts, including those on Basic App Control.

On Android, expand the notification using the arrow on the top right to choose between the two options:

And for iOS, you'll want to press and hold the notification to see the options:
If you have any feedback and further improvement suggestions regarding this feature, our Dev team would love to hear from you!

@davey_d I can't figure out how to get this to work on iOS. I don't have any options when I press the notification. The inherent options allow to mute all simplisafe notifications but it does not appear like your example above. What version of the app is this present in? I have 2078.51.0 from 2 weeks ago and there is no new update. Thanks!

Hi @EAZ73 ,

The app installed on your device may have some incorrect data that should be cleared. Please try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Once you're logged in again, the options should be available.

@davey_d That did the trick. Thank you!

@davey_d Snoozing the notifications is a nice start but, isn't this just a bandaid?  The cameras are still detecting motion, recording video and depleting the batteries.  Or have I missed something?  What we need is the app to allow the cameras to stop detection in Off mode or to easily set a schedule for detection...and for all cameras at once, not each one individually.  Having these options would save batteries, stop unnecessary video recordings and there would be no need to "snooze" notifications.  Thank you

@lsibbitt we hear you. That's a separate initiative. I'll keep you updated when there's a change on that one, over here.

Hi. Is there a way to Pause or mute/silence Motion Detection on outside cameras and doorbells. For example- today my husband and I were outside working (so it is US setting the motion off) and by the time we were done my phone battery was flat dead between the two outdoor cameras and the doorbell constantly waking up.
It would be awfully nice to have a Silence for 30 minutes button/setting so like the yard guy mowing my lawn doesn’t drain my battery?

On the outdoor camera you can turn off motion detection. Then turn back on later.

@eamail2001

That is, at best, a poor workaround and not a tenable long term solution. It also has a huge potential for real repercussions if you forget to turn the camera back on.

Bump! This is a must have setting!

I am looking for a solution for this problem as well! Currently we put a piece of painters tape over over the camera to stop setting it off.

@romycbc you could just disable Motion Detection in the settings. But as previously mentioned, there's currently no way to do that only for certain modes; it's all or nothing.

While mowing or doing any activities around the camera, it gets annoying getting all of the camera motion alerts.  Would it be possible to "snooze" the recordings or alerts?  Maybe have a prompt come up, after a couple of immediate alerts, and say "snooze alerts for x minutes"?

Thanks

@hawkcad, nice idea and I second that! Shouldn't be that hard to implement.

How has SimpliSafe not added this feature yet?! Or thought of it in the first place!! Terribly annoying to get constant notifications when it’s just us, lawn service, etc.

Offering a 3D Touch (on iPhone anyway) options to snooze alerts for various periods of time (say 30min, 1hr, or 8hr) would be amazing!

Going through all the taps to turn motion detection completely off, and then having to remember to turn them back on is so early 2000s!

Provide the ability to snooze notifications and/or recordings for x amount of time. Allow user to do this themselves in app; also consider push notifications asking user if they want to snooze after motion has been triggered so many times in some time frame.

It's annoying to get multiple notifications when you expect high traffic.

If you're running on battery, you may want to snooze recording when expecting high traffic and no need for recording.

Could also reduce network traffic, and SimpliSafe processing needs by allowing snooze feature.

I have an outside camera that covers my back yard and patio. I want it to detect motion most of the day and alert me, but when I'm home and want to enjoy the patio I have to turn it off or suffer constant motion warnings, then I have to remember to turn it back on or it is worthless.  it is troublesome to navigate in the app to turn off motion sensing, and it would be nice if there was a "Disable motion sensing for x minutes" feature that was easy to get to, or maybe better to set times of the day that the camera would be inactive so I don't have to turn it off when I get home and back on before going to bed, or even link it to the alarm itself.  Something to make it easier.

Finally it greatly reduces the battery life if it is recording me for 3 hours everyday while my family and I are in the back yard.

The notifications for the outside camera really need to be updated so you can set it to receive notifications only when in Home or Away modes.

YES! They absolutely need to offer more control over this. I want that notification to be on even when the alarm is off so I can see when guests come over or whatever, but if my kid is playing in the front yard my freaking phone won't stop buzzing. "Snooze for X minutes" needs to happen!

I've seen this idea posted elsewhere but it's worth repeating. PLEASE add a feature to snooze doorbell motion alerts for various periods of time. I still want to see motion alerts if my alarm is off, but if my family is on the front porch or my kid is playing in the yard I get motion notifications every time they walk near the front door. Please add the option to temporarily disable!

Please add the ability to snooze outdoor camera motion notifications too. And please make it obvious (show a crossed out camera preview) when a camera is snoozed or motion detection is disabled. I recent switched from Ring, and that was a great set of features.

Agree!  This was a very handy feature on the Ring we had previously

I would like to be able to open the app, and chose a 15, 30, or 60 minute time frame to disable motion sensors.

When my lawn service comes, I can get 18-25 notifications in an hour. I would like to be able to simply choose an amount of time that the motion sensors are disabled without having to remember to turn them back on.

Here's what it looks like on my Do Not Disturb app.
There is a NOW feature that will shut off my phone for preset amounts of time and even adds them up if you click multiple times. EG: I click the 15 min 3 times and it shuts my phone off for 45 minutes.

I agree! I would like a simple way to go into the app or even the keypad, not so many clicks as it stands now, to disable the camera/s so I don't wear down the batteries so fast. I've tweaked settings numerous times to extend the battery and all I end up doing is negating the point of having the camera at all as it won't record diddly. We're retired and out in the yard lots during the day which helps to drain the battery pretty quickly. I may end up getting plug power.

Would be a great idea for outdoor camera , when entertaining or just relaxing on patio. Constant notifications are absolutely annoying!

This is an absolute must!  Please add this feature.  I get constant notifications when I am doing yard work or relaxing in the garden and there should be an easy way to silence it, or have an “I’m outside” mode added.

100% necessary.  SimpliSafe's competition makes this easy with schedules. Would be nice to be able to schedule motion sensing on individual cameras... for example I would like to turn off all cameras motion sensing during the day except for the front door so I know when I get packages delivered, or someone is knocking.

Agree completely.  There are at least two other threads on the support site pleading to allow scheduling of active notification periods for camera motion detection.  Competition has it.  It would be an exceedingly simple program (at the level of a light timer).  We are hoping soon to hear some announcement of whether the development team will prioritize this sorely needed feature - hopefully before customers leave Simplisafe out of frustration.
Please let us know something.  Thank you.

The SimpliSafe app for iPhone just updated and the notes say that it added a new feature: “Snooze notification action to motion push notifications”. However, I still don’t see how to use the new feature. This has been long awaited. How do you use it?

Hi @ricky_stubbs2000 ,

The Snooze Notifications function is an upcoming feature that is currently in a limited rollout. It is not yet available for all users. We'll definitely keep you updated when it rolls out for everyone.

( @captain11 I know you're going to ask. The Android version is coming as well)

Oh… it’s just weird that when the update showed up in the apple App Store the notes said it was changed. Guess I’ll just keep waiting… for now ;)

This feature is not working from my Apple Watch.

When my landscapers are here, my camera detects their motion and I get notifications very often that motion was detected. Would be helpful to be able enter the camera into a mode where I would not be notified about motion for a pre-determined amount of time (10, 15, 30 minutes) so I don’t get bombarded with notifications when they are here. After the pre-determined time is up, it would just go back to what it was.

@christophersadler267 a bit of good news. If you set up push alerts on your phone in the SS app, you get the option of "snoozing" the camera that picked up the motion for 30 or 60 minutes. Not a perfect soution but works pretty well.

Hi @christophersadler267,

Captain11 is correct - with our Snooze Notifications feature, you can turn off your camera's notifications for a set amount of time. You can learn more about this feature and how to enable it in this Help Center article.

How can you undo snoozing the notifications? Let's say for example you click snooze for 60 minutes, but the work you were doing in the yard is done after 20 and now you want the alerts to immediately resume.

Hi @Jd1013 ,

Currently that's not available, and you'll just have to wait for the time to complete. Our dev team is of course working on expanding Snooze functionality in the future.

Hello, could we have a feature that when you disable motion detection on a camera that it asks if you would like to turn it off, or only disable for an amount of time. I have a camera in my backyard, when I'm sitting out there I'd like the option to disable the motion detection for 3 hours or whatever, but then it automatically re-enables after that time period. Thanks for listening!
