Biometric Authentication at Login

I've brought this up before and didn't get a response.  Yesterday I left the house and was gone for the day.  A few hours went by when I realized that I hadn't set the alarm to Away when I left.  So, I opened the app to do it and since it had been 30 days since I had logged on, I had been logged off automatically.  So, now that I'm out of town and have a 17 character password for my account, I have no way to re-logon to the app since I'm away from my home computer.   Why isn't the app compatible with the iPhone Face ID option?????  All my banking and credit card apps work that way.  Not knowing when you're logged off the app by the dumb 30 day rule is annoying and unnecessary.  I hope Simplisafe improves the app's functionality by allowing Face ID sooner rather than later.

Hi zzebra, not sure I understand. Are you saying that you're not able to log in because you're not able to remember your password?

@davey_d  Yes, all my passwords are 15-20 characters and I have a password manager in my computer.  But that is besides the point.  Why don't I have the option of Face ID, and deciding how long my password is good for, like with by banking apps?

We do have FaceID available as an option for App Lock (under Manage Account > App Lock).

But you'll still have to log in again after a month, using username and password. This is a deliberate design, for security reasons. The actual login application (which is the same across all platforms, including the webapp) doesn't yet support AppleID. But I've already forwarded your suggestion to our dev team.

I don't have an iOS device but my understanding is that if you have enabled biometric functionality, which is not on by default in the SimpliSafe app or many other apps, you can use biometrics to unlock. I assume it's disabled by default (and rightly so) for security reasons since if someone got your phone and your hand, by force or because you were unconscious, they could just unlock your device, unlock SimpliSafe, disable alarm, etc.

Can someone with an iOS device confirm this? All I have to go on are reviews which say it's possible but I can't confirm. Also can someone with an iOS device confirm the steps to get to the section in the app under settings (I think it's under account?) to enable this?

@worthing Yes you can use Face ID to unlock app and is disabled by default (I don’t have my old iPhone that had home button/fingerprint unlock anymore, I assume that would work too).

Tap three line icon (top left) > tap manage account > tap Configure App Lock > create app lock pin > enter pin again to verify > app will ask you if you want to use biometric unlock.
