Notification on doorbell camera motion detection
The documentation and in app UI suggest that I should be able to get my doorbell camera to send a notification when it detects motion.
Docs here https://support.simplisafe.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035333172-Doorbell-Notifications say:
Doorbell Notifications
Video Doorbell Pro will issue notifications to you when someone presses the doorbell button and when the camera detects motion.
You can change the notification settings for both detected motion and a doorbell button press. Learn more here.
In Android UI Settings -> Camera Settings -> Doorbell -> Motion Detection has two sliders for "Motion Events" and "Motion Notificaticons". I have both these on and I do get motion events showing up in my timeline but never notifications.
This seems like an essential feature - when porch pirates or other bad actors are snooping around my front yard at any time of the day I want to know. I don't want it to set off the alarm but yeah I do need to check footage and see what is going on. And I really don't want to have to get an additional camera or system to achieve this. Either way - seems like a bug that it doesn't work as advertised, let's just fix the glitch?

Right now, the SMS alerts feature includes only events from the alarm system. Since the cameras connect via WiFi only and use a different way of communicating, those alerts can only go through Push Notifications.
Would you mind letting us know a bit more about your phone setup? i.e. what device and what OS? I can check in with our engineers and have them attempt to replicate the issue.

I should 100% be able to request notifications for events on any sensor even when the alarm is off. I'm at home in my office a long way from the front door, perhaps using headphones. It is ESSENTIAL that I can be notified when someone is approaching my front door or rings the doorbell. It is a security risk.
You may not care because I've already bought the system but pretty soon I'll be forced to consider other doorbells, and the what do you know I may consider the rest of their system and ditch SimpliSafe. I don't want to do that, but it is a slippery slope.

One last thing: are you using push alerts from the app or SMS?

So it's definitely an issue on the app side. Did we already suggest simply uninstalling and reinstalling the app? That should clear out any incorrect data, both in the app, and the configuration file. And it would force re-authentication, which might help as well.

The doorbell camera has failed to send some motion alerts during the night. It sent a notification for me going outside at 9pm, but not at 11pm although the event was still recording in the timeline. I'm wondering if maybe my phone settings are the cause here with do not deserve settings getting in the way of receiving alerts.

@s13n agree!!! We can’t sit on our patio if waiting for someone since we can’t hear our doorbell and phone doesn’t receive any notifications!

I actually get the notifications about motion but wish they could be differentiated from those for an actual alarm because on a windy day they're going off when the tree next to the doorbell waves in the wind. Also, the system is not even armed when this is happening. It would be different if I was getting them when the system was armed. I don't see an option in Android to turn these off but leave the alarm notifications on.
