Voice prompts / announcements are cut off / incomplete

My base station does not always announce the complete voice prompts when arming home and when announcing the various sensor names in test mode.  For example, I'll press "Home" on the keypad, and the base station will say something like "Sim..." or "Simplisafe" or even just "Sss" instead of the full announcement which is "Simplisafe On, Home."  When in test mode, it'll say something like "Master..." instead of "Master Bedroom, Motion Sensor."  The completeness of the announcements vary.  Strange thing is when I arm using the app, so far the announcements have been complete.  I have the latest firmware updated one week ago.

Anyone else having the same issue?

This issue has been resolved as of Base Station firmware 2.14. If you are experiencing this issue, please update your Base Station to the latest version.

Hi @awneff,

Our engineers have been reaching out to users experiencing this issue, and they've found that performing a Base Station reset with a few extra steps can help. To do so:

  1. Remove the power plug from the Base Station, which will reveal the security screw.
  2. Unscrew the security screw using a Philips head screwdriver.
  3. Twist the entire bottom panel counter-clockwise, and pull away to open the battery compartment.
  4. Take out one battery. This will fully power down the Base Station.
  5. Wait 3 minutes with the Base Station fully powered down.
  6. Reinsert the battery and reassemble the Base Station.

Once the Base Station has fully booted up, try arming and disarming your system again through the Keypad. The voice prompts should be restored.

Mine started doing this several days ago. I'm trying the reset and see if that helps

I am Having the same issue. It has happened before but it’s happening worse now. I can reset the station sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. I feel like something deeper than just a reset.

@cdpintx I would try performing the Base Station reset that our engineers have identified as a potential solution. To do so:

Power reset just fixed this issue for me. When in doubt, unplug/reboot. 😉

I’m also having the same issue for about the past 2 weeks

Same problem of announcements cutting off.  Any suggestions? Has the firmware been targeted and solved?

Hi @yyslas,

Our engineers have identified that a Base Station reset with a few extra steps will help to retrieve full voice prompts. To do so:

  1. Remove the power plug from the Base Station, which will reveal the security screw.
  2. Unscrew the security screw using a Philips head screwdriver.
  3. Twist the entire bottom panel counter-clockwise, and pull away to open the battery compartment.

  6. Reinsert the battery and reassemble the Base Station.

The latest firmware update solved this issue for me for about 2 months. Now the problem is back.

also…please figure out how to let us post, log in, and still keep our post without having to type it all in again. If you can’t figure out how to do that the. Just gray out the post box and force us to log in first.

Agreed. Typing out a message just to be forced to log in and have to retype the message again is a UX issue that should be solved by now, by such a massive company like SimpliSafe. It’d take 10 minutes to fix this.

Hi @SimplyGuy,

Our engineers are continuing to investigate this issue. In the meantime, I would perform the Base Station reset that they have identified as a potential solution:

Same issue here, which I have experience for the past few weeks.  Is there a new firmware release for the base station that will fix and restore the full voice prompts?

This has been going on for about a month,  tried the base station reset and it worked for a couple of days before resorting back to the broken voice at arm and disarm.  Annoying.

Normally when you press buttons on the keypad, the base station makes an announcement. ("Simplisafe On - Home" for example).

Recently my base station has stopped completing the announcement, instead just cutting short ("Simpli......")

If you hit the command button again it will complete the statement, but I am not sure that is necessary since the keypad also shows the status. There are no warning messages, is this a sign that the batteries need to be replaced or something else?

Hi @StaciaSauerwein,

It sounds like you're experiencing a known issue with the Base Station, so I've merged your initial post into this thread. Our engineers are currently working on a permanent fix to this problem, but in the meantime I would perform this Base Station reset which has been successful retrieving voice prompts:

@emily_s Thank you, I will try this tonight!

I only found this thread *after* using all the search terms I could think of and then posting my own query, of course!
