System Firmware 2.14 (July 2023)

Hi folks,

Base Station firmware 2.14 is rolling out now, with important fixes and improvements. We strongly recommend updating to this version as soon as possible.

Here’s what’s coming in 2.14:

  • Improved communication between components and Base Station
  • Further support for 4G cellular rollout (UK only)
  • Fixed an issue with Base Station voice prompts being interrupted
  • Fixes for a rare issue with stability of Base Station memory
  • Laying the groundwork for upcoming features

Hi folks,

A smaller update is rolling out to all users very soon with some minor fixes and enhancements. If you have already updated to Firmware 2.14, you would see this as a new update on your Keypad and the SimpliSafe app. If you have not yet updated, you’ll skip straight to this latest version.

Here’s what’s added in this minor update:

  • Fix for some WiFi disconnecting issues
  • Additional support for In-App Smart Lock Calibration
  • Additional support for 4G cellular rollout for UK
  • Adding support for communication between Wireless Siren and Base Station
  • Various stability and performance improvements

I knew something had changed because the beginning of September all my motion detection devices showed no responding    I spent time with technical support and re installed them all. They then went off line again   I went on vacation for 2 weeks  and now all is well  plus my live camera is working better    what was changed.

@callessio Firmware updates are slowly rolled out to all users. I would keep an eye on your Keypad - if this update it's available yet, it should be very soon!

Please consider sending an email out to announce updates coming out.  My system never received a keypad notice (no symbol) and I've spent hours on the phone with tech support (very helpful) when an update actually fixed some of my problems but not all.  Thanks

How do we find the version number on our system?

@wh6c Go to your keypad, hit menu, enter your pin.  Go to System Settings, then move all of the way to the bottom, select Diagnostics. then move to the right to base station. 2nd line will have version #.

Have yet to receive an update. Any chance someone might be able to push the update?

@Philly78 It has been push to your Base Station. Keep an eye on your Keypad, it should notify you of an update once it's ready.

@emily_s thanks! I will keep an eye out for it over the next few days.

@emily_s what is the typical time for receiving the update from your department from 2 days ago? few days/weeks.

@Philly78 and @dlpsr Base Station updates are slowly rolled out to users. I can push it to help expedite the process and assist with downloading, but I don't have an exact timeline on when it will be available.

Please push the latest update to my base station too! I'm still running 2.12.2. Thanks

@riveramendezivan I see that your Base Station does not need an update right now. You can always check the firmware version it is running in the Keypad by navigating to Menu > System Settings > Diagnostics > and scroll to the right to Base Station

Power Outage Error Message _Troubleshooting

@davey_d  and @emily_s

8-28-2023:

Update - I called Simplisafe technical support this morning and thanks to the great troubleshooting by technician John - we are up and running again. Very pleased, I have not called Simplisafe in maybe 5 years. Keypads, wireless network connecting and mobile app is connected again. John was amazing!

8-28-2023 - 0700 a.m.
This morning we woke up and now although the alarm is engaged, the keypad is out of range - so I do not have any method to disable the alarm. I will call in to get assistance.

8-26-2023:

Ran update today (8-26-23) and problems began - Apps on two different iphones (iPhone 14 and iPhone 7) show power outage. Refreshing screen does nothing. Logging out, logging back in no changes.

Keypad
Version 2.1.2.2
Loader 0.9.0
Hardware 1

Base Station
Version 2.14.2
Loader 0.90
WiFi 2.11.6
Audio 1.6.0

  • System will activate only manually via keypad.
  • Test signal is received successfully.
  • No lights on base station, although lights are selected in System Settings
  • Wi-Fi - can't find existing wi-fi network that it was always connected to.
  • Unplugged adapter from direct plug, same issue as above.

Saw this post:
https://support.simplisafe.com/conversations/gen-3-simplisafe/no-info-on-firmware-updates-very-buggy-wifi/64e3ccb0fa36f16d42e2b9d7

Per emily_s with the above post - I setup a guest network with WPA2-PSK [AES] security.
I do not want to change security to WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]

  • I went back to the handset after I enabled the guest network and now both wireless networks show under system settings.
  • I tried to connect to the original network and it spins and spins (on the handset).
  • I tried to connect to the new guest network, and it does the same thing, spins, does not connect.
  • App still shows power outage.
  • Manually setting the alarm on the handset sets the alarm and messages successfully go to iPhones as system is armed (but app shows power outage).

It appears the new update has a bug with connecting to a wireless network.

Please advise, thank you.

Our system was struck by this same bug.

Hi @mgbphoto and @weblee

This is concerning. You both see "Keypad Out of Range" on your Keypad? Does the Base Station respond to any other inputs? e.g. door chimes, or does it light up when you unplug (after a minute)?

I'll need to relay your info to our dev team for further investigation.

@davey_d  - thank you for responding - I just updated my message above.  Yes I saw "Keypad Out of Range" on our Keypad, and I could not disable the alarm via web browser on my computer. Nothing responded, not the keypad, mobile apps or browser dashboard.  John @ technical support at Simplisafe assisted me successfully in getting this fixed. He worked his magic in the background. We now can access via mobile app, keypad, web, etc. Power outage notification is gone. I can connect back to my wireless network. Seems to be working properly again. Please feel free to contact me if I can help answer any other questions.

I ran this update however it won't update my keypads. My base station is showing 2.14.2 but my keypads are showing 2.12.2. When I select 'check for updates' it says I am up to date.

How do I get my keypads updated?

13 Messages

Both my keyboards have remained at 2.12.2 while the base station upgraded with 2.13.8 and 2.14.2.  I'm assuming there just wasn't a reason to modify the keypad firmware.

I see there's another upgrade available, support says base station 2.14.10 and keypad 2.13.8, I don't see the release notes posted yet.

I am having the same problem with my base unit truncating voice prompts. I am currently on version 2.13.8. Is there any chance you could push the update to my system?

@ron_133 If you haven't tried yet, suggest to hard boot your base and then manually check for updates on your keypad.  Unplug your base, unfasten bottom screw, twist open the base and take a battery out.  Wait a minute, insert the battery etc.  Then do manual check on keypad.  Wait a few hours if update gear appears.  Or call support to push the update.

Please post your outcome here if you get a chance.
