Checking the App triggers Camera Motion?
Similar situation. Every time I open the app to check my push notifications, it triggers a camera motion detected push notification. This started several weeks ago. I’m in a perpetual push notification spiral.

Hi @jwgdeacon ,
Your situation is very different and also very strange, so I split it off into a new post. It shouldn't be possible to actually set off your cameras just from opening the SimpliSafe app.
Could it be possible that you're getting just the notifications from events, and not the actual recordings themselves? That is, that the notifications are somehow being held back until you launch the app, and then they all come at once.
Of course, that shouldn't be happening either. I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the SimpliSafe app, if you haven't already. And make sure to allow permission for notifications if the SimpliSafe app requests it.

@davey_d I’m having the same issue with 2 of 3 cameras. Open the app and both send motion notifications and start recording. Strangely the spotlights are not on at first and take a few seconds to turn on which is new as well. Was there ever a solution to this?

I've seen similar on my Android, I'll have to check the tablet tonight. It doesn't seem to happen to me during the day yet.
But when crossing over to night vision around dusk and after dark. Half the video is in color, half B&W night. And one more randomly later on in the evening, same camera.
Seems related to the lighting & random detections issue for the last few months.
There is a post light out there but its been there for a year and used every night.
I turned off night vision on all 5. Again. I have some to enough ambient light for color on detection. You can also hear that snapping noise when it switches.

I checked my Android tablet and verified it does this on there also. Opened app, refreshed batteries page, left front camera fired up.

Ill keep a check on it and test, especially in the evening, but today I noticed a couple of recordings when opening the app.
I've rebooted the phone, made sure the apps to date. I have not reinstalled it yet, last resort.
I have also noticed and app updates may have fixed it, when looking into the timeline, it will appear empty or a detection with no recording, which may be from the asterisked, 5 cameras plan, doorbell.🙄
But then a refresh brings in the page. I'll watch that also.

Ok, trying to be accurate.
There's been a couple of app updates and so, some changes may have been made, amd maybe not.
This evening fiddling in the app before arming on my android phone, no unintentional recordings.
Last night though, I turned night vision off on all of them. (5 outdoor)🤷
However, I saw discussion from 3 years ago about this. When arming the system is it supposed to record on one camera? It did once. Rather difficult to do find other info here related.
Also, after arming and opening the app I find if I open the app, refresh batteries page etc, the left front outdoor cam only, recorded twice. One for each app opening 15 minutes apart. Nothing obvious for other triggers.
Not extremely repeatable either.
I'll test more tomorrow in daytime and tomorrow evening while arming. Etc.

It took some trying but did repeat a record on left front cam only, 15 minutes since the last time. It repeats but takes some effort.
For me anyhow.

In follow-up, it did trigger the left front outdoor cam tonight right on schedule.
Opened the mobile app, refreshed batteries page, camera triggered.
Not armed yet, armed and no trigger tonight. May not even be related.🤷
In addition, same or similar login, the left front cam also fires up when I log into the web app via Android.
It seems related to what @mrfeebs is seeing in iOS.

Same issue, has been going on for months and is getting incredibly frustrating. I keep hoping each app update resolves it but so far hasn’t.
IOS app, regularly updated as is all Simplisafe hardware. Issue only happens at night. Checking camera event timeline in the app always triggers the outdoor cam to record. Standard night vision mode enabled.
Please fix this, it’s literally been happening for months and forced me to have to register and post here.

I submitted screen capture video on Android of this happening February 8th, to the person who called me about it.
No reply, but I didn't really expect any, nor was it necessary. The request was to duplicate it and capture it. Which I did and emailed it back. It's random for me but does it both on phone and tablet.

It’s ridiculous, we literally have better things to do than raise and chase for defects to be fixed. I don’t have the time or energy to be doing their job for them.

Same issue here. Every time I use the keypad or open the app, I get a motion detection alert from the same camera outside. Neither reinstalling the app nor re-pairing devices has helped. Considering switching companies. It's been going on for about a month now.

Does SimpliSafe have a remedy for this problem? I called the help desk and did not receive a reply back or a fix for this problem.

Same issue here. It has been happening for about a month now, and my app and system is fully up to date. IOS, every time I open the app, it sends push notifications to both my and my husbands phones that motion was detected on both of our two outdoor cameras.

Same thing happening to me on Android. Whenever I refresh the timeline to see the current temperature on my temperature sensor, it triggers a camera alert and recording.
