Disappointed

I have used SimpliSafe for going on five years now and have always been happy with the service. However, I am now in a situation where it is very distressing to have the system not doing what I need it to do. My cat got out of my house last Monday (11 days ago). His escape was not recorded, nor any of his movements, though my house and every room is monitored with a camera. I have since put many efforts into effect to try to recover him, including having the sensors turned on to high and recording all motion. However, it is able to record when my other cat moves 10 feet in my living room, but has failed now three times to record a cat sneaking around my back and front porch. The only reason I knew is because I used a Wyze camera as a backup, of which it caught the motion immediately. So I have multiple $200 cameras that have failed where a $35 camera succeeded. This kind of situation is exactly the kind of thing I depend upon my security system for, and it has failed me multiple times over. My future with SimpliSafe is now up for debate, as I seem to get better security with a cheaper system.

@melindapazel We are terribly sorry to hear about this, and we hope that you are reunited with your cat soon. We have escalated your case to our Specialist team so they can take a deeper look into your account. A senior specialist will be in touch soon to help.

I made the same discovery. The hard way unfortunately. 5 OD cameras and two doorbells. Big bucks. Sorry to hear about your cat.

These cams are mostly designed for security, people & cars detection. Even that's iffy IMHO.

Although when i had monitoring they caught a few cats, skunks etc. outside.  15 Wyze running great! Animals everywhere around the house. Good luck!

I have poe cameras and even few dirt old arlo cameras and at night the arlos will catch animals with no spotlight but non of my simplisafe outdoor cameras with a spotlight can catch them.

@lance843 POE is the way. Or one way.

I originally bought this fairly expensive SS system to catch a vehicle parking in my yard late at night. Potentially dangerous, possibly even more dangerous than me if I caught them. The parker would have been out about 40 yards out.

Only to find out these cameras only see about 30 feet in daylight and even worse at night. About a third of that in night vision.

Except random vehicle detections in any mode, any time, 75 yards away. In people only. Lol.

Up very close only. Security? Perhaps. That's debatable.

My mistake and lack of due diligence on my part. A total waste of money. IMHO

They're live view only decorations now.
