You only get 2 phone numbers, put in there whatever is going to work best. Think about it this way, if your alarm is going off because someone is attacking you, do you really want them calling 9 people before dispatching police? Do the monitoring agents really have time to wait for your neighbor to run over and look around before dispatching police? The idea here is most false alarms are caused by the people that live in the house, so lets check with them real quick before we dispatch.
You can change the numbers any time you want so if your'e going to be out of town for example, you could change to your neighbors phone during that time.
Drunk penguin is correct in most regards, Cops monitoring only has to option to have 2 primary numbers before dispatch for SimpliSafe, but they do have the option to add them directly after dispatch, at which point your neighbor would be able to check and process a false alarm, cancelling dispatch :)
You can easily update your Primary Contact Numbers through either your online account or the SimpliSafe app on a smartphone or tablet. To update your information through the SimpliSafe app follow these instructions:
Open up the SimpliSafe app and tap on the ‚ò∞ Menu icon
Select Settings
After choosing Location Profile, you can then update you contact phone numbers at the bottom of that page
To update that information through SimpliSafe.com do the following:
Navigate to http://SimpliSafe.com/Login to log in to your account
Once logged in, click on Monitoring in the menu on the left
You should now see, and be able to update, your contact information on the right side of your screen.
Make sure that you remember to
Save Changes after making any adjustments.
@deleteme, I agree. You get 2 contacts to VERIFY an alarm/cancel it. Then, I believe you get 2 (Or 3?) extras that Simplisafe calls in the event that the authorities are dispatched. I don't think the extra contacts can cancel the alarm, as C.O.P.S calls the extra contacts in the event that authorities are dispatched, to let them know.

I am a retired police officer.
Danger folks!
If there is an alarm event and Police are notified you do not want your contact to go into the residence before the police arrive.
You absolutely do not want to be roaming around inside when the police arrive to secure... Good way to get shot !
