New 2-factor authentication

I just tried to logon to the Simplisafe iPhone app.  It told me that I had to respond to an email for 2-factor authentication.

This doesn't work very well.

If I'm using the app, it's probably because I'm away from home.  Email is only available at home.

Please change the 2-factor authentication to use a text message to a phone (like nearly every other 2-factor authentication scheme works).

I understand text would be more simple but how is it you don't get your email on your phone? Not a smart phone, or?

I get hundreds of emails per day.  I don't want them swamping my cell phone.

I don't want email on my phone, so no, having to only be able to login via computer is a pain.  I just leave myself logged in on phone all the time.

My App has not worked for weeks, so I tried on my desktop computer, and I click verify on the email, and it just returns me back to the login screen, where I have to keep doing the same thing repeatedly, without ever getting in

Do you have any extensions installed, specifically ad or script blockers?

There was an app update yesterday (12/14/2020) for Android:

"Fixed an issue where some users had to select sign in a second time after clicking return to app from the new device verification email. After clicking through the email, you will now land on the dashboard as intended."

Not for iPhone, but perhaps this is a fix if they rolled it out for iOS too. Also, creating a secondary email might be a solution. I made one seven years ago for SimpliSafe only (I felt safer by doing so - combined with a hardware authentication 2FA device key for the email account). I am not sure how long you have been a SimpliSafe customer, but while they have gotten much better, you may be waiting some time for a solution if it is indeed on their end. It is not something you should have to do, but it would solve your issue, as the only emails you would receive would be from SS.
