WTF!? Wireless interference detected????

All of the sudden this system is going fucking nuts!  We keep getting "wireless interference detected."  Just started this morning a few minutes ago.  NOTHING HAS CHANGED IN THIS HOUSE!  NO new devices that haven't been here!  NONE!  Hell.... we didn't even leave the house yesterday to bring anything new in..... And of course customer service is closed!!!!!!!  So we have a choice of turning off the system and not being protected!!  Or listening to that crap over and over and over all day!

FIX YOUR SHIT, SIMPLISAFE!

Do you live on an otherwise uninhabited island or similarly remote location?

toastie, sorry you're having to deal with this.  Don't know what you decided about arming your system, but call them at 9 am (ET) tomorrow morning, if you can, hopefully less of a wait time.  Ask a senior supervisor to troubleshoot with you, and if nothing can be found, ask that the interference threshold is lowered so that you don't have to put up with the constant alerts - this seems to be nearly the only way to 'fix' the issue.

My system had wireless interference detected  several times today.
Really the first time we have had this since installing it back in the end of July.
The control pad on wall has an error message telling me to contact Simplisafe. Been on hold for about twenty minutes so far.
Can I clear the message of do i need to speak with a Tech?
Can I clear the message on the control paid myself? If so how?
Thanks you.

@nelsonrobh Try running Acrylic WiFi, to determine who/what might be using or overlapping your WAP's 2.4 GHz band.  Change your WAP's channel accordingly.  Only 1, 6, and 11 are non-overlapping channels, BTW.

I started having the same problem a couple weeks ago.  It was right after a system update. They sent me a new base station and it's been fine.   The new base station wants to update, but I'm extremely hesitant to do that for fear of the issue returning.

SS won't give a reason this occurs, (at least in the general sense that it's happened to several users posting on the forum) - so.....CALL SS, and ask about lowering the 'wireless interference' alert threshold (request a senior supervisor on the line).  Until they bother to let their users know what to do with the numerous alerts, troubleshooting, etc, it's the only thing we know of that exists that may help (beyond going around your home and outside for a 1/4 mile radius to find a random radio signal interference that probably does not exist).

WTF Indeed.......................................

Yes, what CM1 says.........

Have you read........https://simplisafe.com/forum/customer-support-forum/installing-and-using-simplisafe/junk?page=1        ?

Perhaps we should post the number of Wireless Interference detected messages one can accumulate for bragging rights? Although I have not had one since the thread linked above I will have to go with my numbers from that period which stand at about 10,154 LOL.

I'd think you'd want to raise the threshold to reduce the occurrence. Raising the threshold/decreasing sensitivity also increases the possibility of not detecting interference. Could be a fine line between.

Clearly having continual alerts is not helpful...unless there is actually continual interference of a detrimental nature. The problem is knowing which it is. Sorta like turning off a fire alarm without being 100% sure there is no fire.

I had his and found it was the kids nintendo switch game console so I moved the station and it fixed itself

But yours, Dandy was apparently, an actual interference that you detected and corrected.  The other reports seem to be random, no way to detect any LOCAL interference in the home (as others have tried to do and found nothing unusual) - so again, SS needs to get on top of this and give users an explanation on why it occurs, and how to fix it without having to wait long hold times on the phone for a rep who doesn't have a clue.  If the threshold needs to be changed, unfortunately, only SS can do that on their end.

And yes, Valueadded is definitely in the lead!  As a matter of fact, he wins the WTF award!

So yeah.....Jan 9, 2020 is when our system decided to start this wireless interface BS. I've moved  the base station 3 times to try and correct. It seems like it's fixed, then just starts again. The annoying part to me is every time the system goes into wireless interference  mode, the cameras all take a recording. So the camera shutters are CONSTANTLY sounding off. WTF indeed. Nothing new, but this starts happening!

Strange

When I had wireless interference the cameras did nothing and I was also told by SS they didnt either !

ecod33, call SS and troubleshoot - ask for a supervisor to assist (because some of the reps don't know about the issue).  If troubleshooting doesn't resolve the issue, ask the supervisor to change the threshold of the alerts if necessary.

Quick update on the wireless interference. I tried moving the base station, which temporarily stopped the wireless interference, but it started back up about 6 hours later. I moved it again and the interference continued without stopping. Finally, I put it back in the original location, where the interference just continued. Then at 8:37pm on the 11th (2 days after it started) the interference just stopped happening. So now it's been 5 days with totally normal activity. I've not a clue as to what changed to resolve this. I had called SS but the hold time was ridiculous so I hung up. I had emailed SS support back on the 9th but never did get a response. I did notice that our SS app updated on the 11th and has a different look than before. Clearly something was done that resolved the issue, but what is a total mystery. Might be related to the app update, or that might be just a coincidence.

^ Thanks for updating about this.

That said, not sure about the app update correcting the issue (although it may have in your case).  For example, Valueadded (user posted above), had an insane number of notices, despite doing everything imaginable with the system to correct it.  Until SS formally posts how to mitigate it, or comes out with a fix in another update, it will just continue to be a problem.

I just started to get this "wireless interference detected" about 2 - 3 weeks ago or so and is annoying as can be with it always going off early AM only.

Then turning the alarm off and back on once or twice it is gone.

My base station is not by anything wireless that is on and is about 10 feet from the router.

It never did this before, but getting kinda annoying going off in the early AM hours only.
