Wireless doorbell?
So is the doorbell actually wireless or does it need to have a power supply? Description says there needs to be an existing doorbell set-up for it to work...In this day and age, it seems that this should not need an existing supply for it to work.....

Hi,
Yes, the Video Doorbell Pro needs to plug into an existing wired doorbell for power and sound. But in terms of connection to the service, it uses WiFi.

Is there any SimplySafe product that does not require a wired setup for power or sound? I thought I read somewhere SimplySafe product 2 that avoids this requirement.
Also, if that functionality does not presently exist, is there any plans to perform that functionality in the future?

It sure would be nice to have a battery-powered Videodoorbell Pro. I thought Simplisafe was developing one. Haven't heard whether they went forward with it. As someone living in a 1968-built brick house, it would be messy, difficult, and expensive to run a wire to our front door.

I live in an apartment complex (and is too short to look through peepholes). I hope Simplisafe would come out with a wireless doorbell that is also safe to use and isn't damaging for apartments. I would like to keep all my security home products under one account/umbrella.

Need to make a chime device for inside home when there is not a preexisting doorbell. Otherwise, the camera doorbell is useless.

It connects wirelessly to the base station. Needs a 24VAC supply either by doorbell or a 24 wall plug transformer.

I was wondering if you plan to offer a wireless video doorbell in the future? The wiring for my old doorbell has long since disintegrated and I don't want to call an electrician to reinstall the wiring. I have another doorbell system now but I am not very happy with it, and I would like to have one integrated with my SimpliSafe system. Thank you for listening.

This website works if you want to add the doorbell. You have to buy wiring for it, but it's a fairly simple set up.
