Doorbell Power requirements

Can anyone tell me the voltage requirements of the video doorbell? I need the specs to buy a transformer. I was told 8 to 24 volts. I would like the exact specs, but cannot find them. I guess I'll just buy a 24V xformer.

Hi @todd_714406 ,

Yes, that is the correct info already. Keep in mind that the Video Doorbell Pro is designed to plug into an existing wired doorbell system, so you might have trouble if you're attempting to install it as a standalone.

Is there some reason simplisafe will not just provide a straight and definitive answer to this question. It has been asked over and over and I have yet to see a support answer that delineates the exact voltage requirement of the exterior unit ?

@kittyarc​ because the Video Doorbell Pro is designed to work for wired doorbell systems within that range.

@wrseayjr​ The Video Doorbell Pro requires less than 1 amp of power to charge, and it will draw just over 1 amp when the doorbell button is pressed.
