Door sensor says open when not.

Hi, a door sensor that has worked fine for a few years is now showing open when it's not. When I open and close the door the light on it blinks like normally. I also removed the sensor and re-added it. it showed closed until I opened it.

@eamail2001 If your system shows an incorrect open status for the Entry Sensor, it could be due to one of these three things:

  • Both pieces of the sensor are more than 1.5 inches apart
  • The Entry Sensor is placed on a metal surface
  • The Base Station is too far away from the Entry Sensor

We recommend first checking the physical setup of the sensor to confirm that both pieces are seated close together. If they are, then check the surface material that the sensor is on. We don't recommend placing the Entry Sensor directly on a metal surface, as it can cause the sensor to demagnetize over time, causing the system to read an incorrect open state. If the sensor is on metal, add a buffer between it and the door - like another layer of adhesive, cardboard, or plastic.

But if both pieces of the sensor are close together and it is not on a metal surface, then its connection to the Base Station could be the culprit. In that case, try moving the Base Station a little closer to the Entry Sensor to help strengthen their connection. To learn more, see the Why Is My Entry Sensor Shown as Open When My Door is Closed article in the Help Center.

Hi,
None of that is the case and like I said it's been working for several years with no change in system placement, etc.

Putting it into Test mode seems to have fixed this issue.
