Alarm System Firmware 2.15 (February 2024)

Here’s what’s coming in 2.15:

  • Fix for an issue where the Outdoor Camera may incorrectly report as offline, even though livestream and recordings are still available
  • Fix for excessive low-battery notifications for the Motion Sensor Gen 2
  • Laying the groundwork for future releases
  • Stability improvements and bug fixes

Base Station firmware updates require manual input, either through the SimpliSafe® App, or through one of your Keypads. Please refer to our Help Center article for further info.

@davey_d I always love this bulletpoint:  "Laying the groundwork for future releases" :-)

It is interesting the feature in latest update cuts off SMS notifications for those on basic $19.99 per month plan.  That is not mentioned in “features” of the update.  My app only works half the time so I do not know if system is armed or not.  Time to look for alternatives.

My Keypad firmware remains at 2.13 after the 2.15 Base Station update.  Is this the latest version for Keypad?

@daviddd2827 No need to worry. The firmware 2.15 was for the base only, not the keypads so you should be set to go. In the future, if you have questions use online chat support or call. On weekends and in the evening SS usually does not have an admin covering the community. Have a great weekend!

Thanks for your response.  Perhaps it would reduce confusion if the community page that lists firmware update versions noted both the Base and Keypad version numbers?

@scottrodgers101 Does your keypad show you are connected to WIFI under diagnostics? If not or you can't navigate there, call support for assistance in troubleshooting.

Please post your outcome here if you get a chance. Thanks!

My base station will not update. Says update unavailable at this time. Try again later. Been trying for 2 days. Keypad and App

connected to WIFI. Double checked

@christopherschulter SS rolls out updates on a staggard basis, including this one. You can try calling support and asking them to push it to your system. They may or may not do it immediately. Also, please note, it is firmware for the base only.

Chatting with them now. Thanks

@gHiDoRa Call support to push the update but make sure you are connected to WIFI.

i did and after the update, only the Keypad is update, the BaseStation still showing 2.14 and no update available when i check, do i need to call again?

Captain

@gHiDoRa I would first check on the keypad by going through the menu option, then set up and tab to the top to check for updates.  If one does not appear I would then call support again

5 Messages

chat with the support and he/she said no they can not push the firmware update for BaseStation also said the v2.15 is being deploy right now, so i would eventually get it. I don't know he/she telling the truth or not but I'm done waste time with SimpliSafe support about the firmware update for now.

@gHiDoRa Firmware updates are slowly released across all systems. I do not see an update available on your system at this moment, but it should roll out to yours soon.

My keypad says "Downloading update (is takes about 25 minutes)" but then it doesn't actually download the update. It's been that way for days--I've tried it a bunch of times. I've never had a problem downloading updates before.

EDIT: I called them and they fixed the issue.

Mine is exactly the same and if I press OK it reverts to sleep mode

@Tel this is so that the update can download in the background. Once the download has completed, you should see a Gear icon on the screen, and you can install it by pressing on that side of the screen.

We are having the exact same issue.  Getting the "Downloading Update (takes about 25 minutes)".  But then nothing happens.  This has also been happening for at least a week.

Mine is doing the same thing "Downloading Update....etc" and nothing happens...

Ran diagnostics and wifi shows "reachable" but cell says "disconnected".

@radams16ra and @jdrid I just pushed this firmware update to your Base Stations again, if you could please try and download it again. If you continue to run into this issue, I would recommend reaching out to our Support team for further troubleshooting.

My locks stopped working, unable to control them through the app, after the update. Even after removing them and adding them back.

@bjpark917 If you haven't already, I would recommend resetting your Smart Lock. If you check out the guided flow in this Help Center article, we list the steps to reset the Smart Lock.

Will there be a firmware update for the battery draining issue on the remote/extra siren soon?    I am about to become CEO of Duracell with all the batteries this thing goes through all of a sudden.

@chgopatti Wow. I would like to talk to you about a set of your batteries that ruined my flashlight, but that is another story for another day. In regards to your post, I definitely missread it, thought outdoor camera when you clearly said siren. See my response below.

Haha - Thanks for the morning chuckle!

I chatted with SS this AM, they are sending a return label for the extra siren I purchased recently, I will be getting a refund.  No need having two battery suckers since both the original and the newly purchased extra sirens render the same dismal battery performance.   I will likely also retire the original remote siren, and just depend on the sirens from the base unit and the two outdoor cameras, since they are hard wired.

Somewhat of a disappointment - since everything worked just fine for years up until recently.

Thank you for the reply, and information - Have an excellent day!

Since the update I no longer receive SMS alerts. I have restarted the base station (took batteries out for 4 minutes) and have uninstalled and reinstalled app.

Glad they are going to refund your money.  My one aux siren, with the base siren, was loud enough for your two-story 2600 sq ft home. Add that to the sirens in our 3 Smart Alarm cameras and two aux sirens would be overkill. The batteries (Duracell btw :-) last 6-7 months when I then proactively change them out.

@lynnray4This firmware update did not remove any account capabilities. We did make a change last week to ensure that our customers only receive the features available with the monitoring plan they are currently subscribed to.

For more information on the features available for each monitoring plan, please see the service plan article in our Help Center.

Mine will not upgrade to 2.15 either, keeps saying it will download

@jk5598224 Just to confirm, is your Base Station connected to Wi-Fi? A Wi-Fi connection is required to successfully download a firmware update.

I just pushed the update to your system again, so I would recommend giving the download another go. But if it still unsuccessful, I would then reach out to our Support team for some additional, real time assistance.

My base will not update to v2.15. I am on WiFi and have tried update numerous times. Please push update though.

Hi @8822Kym ,

I would agree with @jk5598224 . A reboot of your Base Station might help.

But also, which method are you using to update, and are you seeing a specific error message?

If you're using the SimpliSafe app, it might help to go through the Keypad instead, under Menu > System Settings > Check for Updates.

Same happened to me. I had to reset the base by pulling the batteries out, let it sit for 3 minutes. If it keeps telling you it downloads, but never does this is what I had to do to fix it.

I'm waiting for an update that ensures all entry sensors notify the base station when they close.  I have shown support that even when they are next to the base station, although they report "open" they do not report "closed".  It's particularly annoying as two of then are in an 24/7 access critical area.

Keypads say "Downloading update takes about 25 minutes" but then it doesn't actually download the update. Tried multiple times. My outdoor camera seems to have reduced sensitivity even though set on high. Camera doesn’t pick up people until they are about 10’ away, good signal and strong battery.

@artg529 I just pushed this update to your Base Station, so I would recommend trying to download it again. It can help to reset the Base Station and then move the Keypad a few feet away from the Base Station before downloading the firmware update. To reset the Base Station, take the following steps:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the Base Station and use a Phillips Head screwdriver to remove the screw below the plug
  2. Remove the bottom cover and remove one battery from the Base Station
  3. Wait 30 seconds
  4. 4. Reassemble the Base Station by inserting the battery, cover, and the power cord
  5. When powered up after the reset, you will hear the Base Station say, “Welcome to SimpliSafe"

4 Messages

Doesn’t seem to be any different from the keypad. Please correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t resetting the base station mean that I have to reinstall every sensor and device? That’s a lot of work and I’ll pass on that.

4 Messages

Two days later icon appeared in the app telling me that an update was available and installed it with no issues. Did not get the "Downloading update takes about 25 minutes" message, replaced with standard updating message instructions. Time will tell if camera loss of sensitivity has resolved.

Update has rendered outdoor camera useless, will sometimes pickup motion but cannot livestream. One doorbell cam has no night vision.

I’ve been a customer for years but losing faith in my system, no security when you roll out these unreliable and system crippling updates.
