HomeKit Secure Video Integration

I just got my SimpliSafe System a couple of weeks ago and so far I really like it. The main thing it's missing, which I bought in anticipation of, is Apple HomeKit integration. Especially now that HomeKit Secure Video is rolling out with iOS 13, having this feature with SimpliSafe would be amazing. I saw a video from last year from the CEO saying that HomeKit was going to be rolled out, but I haven't seen anything else about it.

Does anyone know what the status of HomeKit is?

Yes, it has been cancelled.  SS and Apple could not come to terms, and SS announced they would NOT be doing Homekit.

Man. That's really disappointing.

Yes, this is VERY disappointing to hear.  I am continuing to invest heavily in Apple HomeKit compatible smart home devices, and it is very disappointing that Simplisafe is not going to support Homekit. Is there a link to an official statement from Simplisafe that they will not support Homekit?

Interesting. If this is true and SS will not ever support HomeKit... I guess I should start shopping for SS replacement (I'm too invested in other Apple hardware; cheaper to replace SS that my Apple / HomeKit-compat hardware).

It really sucks considering they told us, me specifically... that if I bought it in advance that 100% for
Sure homekit was coming.
This is now the 3rd time I have Been burned on companies saying they will have homekit and then changing their minds.  I sold my SS and now I am buying the Arlo Ultra.  But... I will wait for Homekit.
The Pro 1 & 2 Systems got it last month... they say Pro 3 & Ultra are coming by Nov 15.  They say they have already applied for the security code from Apple and it was separate from the Pro and Pro 2 because it is a different base station.
So.... I'm still without home security.  Completely disappointed with SS and the fact they lied to all of us.  If they weren't sure-they should have kept quiet.

This is enraging. I bought a system because of the HomeKit integration that was coming. I spent hundreds of dollars on the security, camera, and doorbell. I wish there was some kind of way to recover a decent amount of the cost when selling it. I'm sure I'll lose most of what I invested.

Truly enraging. This was a promise of the new system from the CEO to SS customers. SS, correct this. I'll be filing the BBB complaint.

I too, have been waiting for this integration.  I really like Simplisafe, but with this news, I will start looking at other options for home security that is compatible with Homekit.  Competition is a beautiful thing.

Yeah, I bought thinking homekit support is coming, but went ahead and configured Simplisafe with homebridge and most of the sensor work with homekit now. Except my cameras, but that could be fixed. Its a bit of a hassle though, so I'm thinking if switching to Abode security. They have home kit everything, but no doorbell nor lock yet

The Haven (from ecobee) might be a good alternative. I already have an ecobee thermostat and it works great with HomeKit.

I was able to integrate SimpliSafe using HOOBS using
Homebridge plugin for the SimpliSafe 3 security system.

Supercharge your SimpliSafe system and integrate with HomeKit the right way! This plugin supports:
* Real time event streaming: get immediate notifications anytime the alarm is armed / disarmed / triggered.
* Sensors: always be on top of your home with immediate access to the sensor status. Create smart automations directly from the Home app (e.g. when the front door is opened, turn the lights on).
* Cameras: view your SimpliCams directly from the Home app, receive doorbell notifications and motion snapshots.
* Battery monitoring: the Home app will notify you if the battery level of one of your sensors is low.
Check out...
HOOBS.org

The only issue is that the SimpliSafe camera doesn't support HomeKit's security features. But there are HomeKit cameras from other vendors that do, you should be able to use a SimpliSafe sensor  event to trigger a recording on these.

Plus you can use any HomeKit door bell or lock so you are not locked into the SimpliSafe eco-system.

The HOOBS plugins are free, I was even able to add my car's web app's features into HomeKit!
