Might sound stupid buuuutttt I had a similar experience when installing mine. Try flipping the adapter around. I fought with it and could not figure out why it wouldn't extend or retract all the way and then I had the thought to flip it around. Try that and let me know.
I had installed using green adapter. I then later purchased a new lock set in black to match keypad, again it was diagonal using the green adapter. Now it wouldn't fully retract. (Schlage brand lockset). Used the blue adapter even though not diagonal and it now works as it should.
I'm glad I looked here! I was having the same issue. I'm using the red adapter which is the only one that will fit. I was thinking about getting a new deadbolt but Christopher mentioned that his deadbolt is brand new
Then I saw MoFros264's response. I then examined the adapters. All the colors, except green, need to be placed the correct way. Green is reversible. In my case, flipping the adapter solved the issue.
I had this same issue, and I fixed it by making sure my adapter was in the correct position, but I also had to take the metal plate off the inside of the doorframe, where the lock enters into when locked. The lock was getting stuck on that and needed extra force to fully move....which is fine when you're a human unlocking it, but the Smart Lock needs less friction. Works great now!
My problem comes from the adapter not aligning with the lock. The lock wouldn't close all the way. I bought a new lock and had the same problem. I think I could take the thing apart and make it work, but I am sending it back. The idea is that is is "simpli" safe. If I have to re-engineer the product, it is no longer simple.
@smadakram, sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Smart Lock. From your description, it sounds like your Lock could benefit from re-calibration, which is available through your Keypad Menu, under Devices > [your Smart Lock].
As your house shifts around, it might be necessary to re-calibrate your Smart Lock from time to time.

I still feel the same friction when turning the Simpli Safe inside lock from locked to unlocked at the last 10% of the turn.
The dead bolt is brand new.
