On Hold

Base Station green light with no Video Doorbell

We have been investigating incidents of Base Stations showing a green light for an unknown reason. As you may know, the green light is currently used when the Base Station is relaying signals from the Video Doorbell when its button is pressed.

But some users have reported seeing the green light even if their doorbell has not been activated, or if they don’t even have a Video Doorbell at all. We have determined that this has no negative or other impact on the rest of your system’s functions.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to replicate the issue, either with customers or in our lab. So for now this investigation is on hold. If you are seeing this issue, please let us know in this thread!

I have an upgraded system and the base just recently turned green.  I tried to turn off in the manual setting, but nothing happened.  Can you trouble shoot please.

Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled Base turned green

@cjd_96709 Officially, there is no green light for the base. In the past, SS online has replied that room lighting conditions could make it appear like green. Suggest you call Support and troubleshoot.

Please post your outcome here if you get a chance.

And, now on to SS: Another example where video chat in the phone app would work wonders for both your support agent and your customer. Should be a priority to implement. Thanks!

Hi,

The Base Station does not have a green indicator. But there is a blue and a yellow.

The blue indicator means that the system is armed. This is the indicator that you can disable on the SimpliSafe app, under Menu > My System > General Settings > Base Station Light.

The yellow indicator means that a firmware update is in the process of downloading or installing. You can check the Keypad for the [!] icon to begin the firmware update process.

If you are seeing neither of these indicators, it might help if you took a picture of your Base Station, so we can see what you're seeing.

I have a green light on the base station of a system purchased earlier this year. Appeared today. Nothing on keypad or App.

@Christian well that's strange, never seen a green light

My base pulses green when my indoor camera detects motion. I have all sounds turned off, but what you’re hearing could be an audible alert or notification that your camera is detecting motion

My base light just switched from blue to green a couple weeks ago. When armed in home or away, it's now solid green instead of solid blue.

they said unplug it take one battery out wait 30 seconds, well that didn’t work.

@cheryl581 Thank you for reporting this, I've forwarded your case to our engineering team to further their investigation! If you do an extended version of a Base Station reset by taking the following steps, does that clear the light out?

  1. Remove the power plug from the Base Station, which will reveal the security screw.
  2. Unscrew the security screw using a Philips head screwdriver.
  3. Twist the entire bottom panel counter-clockwise, and pull away to open the battery compartment.
  4. Take out one battery. This will fully power down the Base Station.
  5. Wait 3 minutes with the Base Station fully powered down.
  6. Reinsert the battery and reassemble the Base Station.

@bragg_lar Our engineering team is looking into what could cause the Base Station to show a green light without having a Video Doorbell on your system. I've forwarded your details to the team so they can continue to investigate!

I had the green light issue last night. I had an alarm go off for about 10 seconds. I don’t know what alarm exactly but after I checked my house I could not find anything wrong there was no alert from the system but I noticed the  base station light was now green! I do not have a video doorbell connected to the system either.
