Base Station green light with no Video Doorbell

We have been investigating incidents of Base Stations showing a green light for an unknown reason. As you may know, the green light is currently used when the Base Station is relaying signals from the Video Doorbell when its button is pressed.

But some users have reported seeing the green light even if their doorbell has not been activated, or if they don’t even have a Video Doorbell at all. We have determined that this has no negative or other impact on the rest of your system’s functions.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to replicate the issue, either with customers or in our lab. So for now this investigation is on hold. If you are seeing this issue, please let us know in this thread!

I have an upgraded system and the base just recently turned green.  I tried to turn off in the manual setting, but nothing happened.  Can you trouble shoot please.

Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled Base turned green

@cjd_96709 Officially, there is no green light for the base. In the past, SS online has replied that room lighting conditions could make it appear like green. Suggest you call Support and troubleshoot.

Please post your outcome here if you get a chance.

And, now on to SS: Another example where video chat in the phone app would work wonders for both your support agent and your customer. Should be a priority to implement. Thanks!

Hi,

The Base Station does not have a green indicator. But there is a blue and a yellow.

The blue indicator means that the system is armed. This is the indicator that you can disable on the SimpliSafe app, under Menu > My System > General Settings > Base Station Light.

The yellow indicator means that a firmware update is in the process of downloading or installing. You can check the Keypad for the [!] icon to begin the firmware update process.

If you are seeing neither of these indicators, it might help if you took a picture of your Base Station, so we can see what you're seeing.

I have a green light on the base station of a system purchased earlier this year. Appeared today. Nothing on keypad or App.

@Christian well that's strange, never seen a green light

My base pulses green when my indoor camera detects motion. I have all sounds turned off, but what you’re hearing could be an audible alert or notification that your camera is detecting motion

My base light just switched from blue to green a couple weeks ago. When armed in home or away, it's now solid green instead of solid blue.

I had an issue with my entry sensor, did an online chat they help me fix it. Now I have a green light that stays on ,on the base they told me it was for the video doorbell. I do not have a door bell.

they said unplug it take one battery out wait 30 seconds, well that didn’t work.

@cheryl581 Thank you for reporting this, I've forwarded your case to our engineering team to further their investigation! If you do an extended version of a Base Station reset by taking the following steps, does that clear the light out?

  1. Remove the power plug from the Base Station, which will reveal the security screw.
  2. Unscrew the security screw using a Philips head screwdriver.
  3. Twist the entire bottom panel counter-clockwise, and pull away to open the battery compartment.
  4. Take out one battery. This will fully power down the Base Station.
  5. Wait 3 minutes with the Base Station fully powered down.
  6. Reinsert the battery and reassemble the Base Station.

I did this and it did not stop the issue.  The base unit is still beeping with a yellow or greenish light.  It showed a doorbell error and I do not have one, then it said no link to dispatch.

@higginsdl1 Did you also hear a three-note chime from the Base Station? If you saw a yellow light and heard that chime, that is the system's Trouble Light and Trouble Signal. This goes off when the Base Station detects a potential issue with your system - like a No Link to Dispatcher error. Once the error is resolved, the yellow Trouble Light will go away.

A No Link to Dispatcher error occurs when the Base Station loses its WiFi and cellular backup connection. For more details on how to resolve this issue, see the No Link to Dispatcher Warning article in our Help Center.

@bragg_lar Our engineering team is looking into what could cause the Base Station to show a green light without having a Video Doorbell on your system. I've forwarded your details to the team so they can continue to investigate!

I had the green light issue last night. I had an alarm go off for about 10 seconds. I don’t know what alarm exactly but after I checked my house I could not find anything wrong there was no alert from the system but I noticed the  base station light was now green! I do not have a video doorbell connected to the system either.

Recently updated the system and today a low melody sound with a green blinking light is happening. I DO NOT have a doorbell or any cameras.
not sure how to shut it off?

@mdstrauch you mention that you're also hearing a "melody". Could that be the three-tone Trouble Signal? That indicates that there's a critical issue that your system wants you to be aware of. You can check for notifications on the Keypad, or in the inbox icon on the Overview page of the SimpliSafe app.

@dljacobs1 Thank you for reporting! What happens if you unplug the Base Station for a minute and then plug it back in? Does the light clear?

I seem to be having the same issue. Started today. Replaced my base station about 3 or 4 weeks ago.

@joe_6532bb If you take a look at your Keypad, do you see any error messages on it? If there is an error message, does resolving the issue clear this light?

@tm90043 Thank you for reporting this! If you look at your Keypad, does it display any error messages? Like a No Link to Dispatcher error, or that a sensor is Offline?

No, it doesn't

I am seeing this issue, and have also had my apartment broke into multiple times, and things things stolen and vandalized multiple times. And your representatives treat me like garbage everytime I call. I'm 4 years of using your service and dumping close to $1,000 worth into products, only one person has attempted to resolve these issues.

When are you going to realize y'all have been hacked, and people within your own team are helping. Y'all be having WAY too many glitches and no solutions for ever. Every time I was broken into you told me oh well. Every time something was stolen, you told me oh well. Your system is garbage. Your customer care is garbage. Swindle me out of my money with promises of home protection and then when I get robbed you tell me of em ESPECIALLY when I was paying to dollar protection. No sir no ma'am.
