I just attempted to purchase a few yard signs because the cheap plastic they provide doesn’t hold up. Simplisafe wanted $23 for shipping, more than the
materials themselves. I’m a longterm customer, keep your stuff.
I agree on this. I am a long-time SS customer as well with an enormous amount of components AND have the highest level of monitoring. Seems like we would get free or discounted shipping when adding new components.
Adding to this - surprised to find a shipping charge as I went to purchase expensive additional hardware for my system. Simplisafe, you should reward longterm customers with free shipping at the very least.
I’m also surprised to be adding more components to my existing system and be faced with a $20+ shipping charge for a few lightweight pieces of plastic.
Not only does Simplisafe charge shipping, the cost is outrageous. $9.62 to ship a door sensor 'slow boat'. I looked into eBay's shipping cost and they estimate it at just over $2. BTW, I can buy a new door sensor on eBay for about $1 more that SimpliSafe's sale priceand it's sent free shipping. Or, buy it on Amazon for free Prime overnight shipping. The big SimpliSafe Labor Day sale is a joke.
@djo8420 Are you talking about the key fob? You can buy many components at Best Buy or Amazon and pay no shipping. I just purchased a Gen2 motion sensor for $27 with no shipping cost at Lowes.
That has been my strategy as well. I check BJs, Lowe's, Best Buy, and Amazon for deals and purchase any additional sensors from them to avoid the shipping charge.
Another side tip: You can order a new customer bundle kit (e.g. base station, camera, keypad, etc.) from those same places very cheap and get lots of components way cheaper than buying an individual component. I bought two 6pc kits from BJs recently just for the new indoor cameras. Each kits with all the components was cheaper than a single camera from SimpliSafe.com AND I get free shipping. I used all the extra components and just left the extra base station in the box.
