24/7 recording ability for indoor and outdoor cameras when connected to power outlets

Hello,

Please provide the ability to have 24/7 recordings for both indoor and outdoor cameras when connected to power outlets. Connecting to power outlets should not drain the battery.

Hi @dk1 ,

Thanks for submitting your idea. Both the Smart Alarm Indoor Camera and the Wireless Outdoor Camera already feature Performance Mode: when plugged into a power source, the camera does not enter the battery-saving deep sleep mode, so it's able to respond, record, and allow livestreams much faster. It also enables a pre-roll, capturing the first few seconds before he trigger, to catch more of footage of intruders in the act.

However, the actual recordings will still require a motion trigger, or manual command from the SimpliSafe app. If you are subscribed to a plan that includes video recordings, we already give you unlimited recordings that stay on your account for 30 days, for up to 10 cameras. So you can have all your cameras recording a hundred times a day, and all of those recordings would be saved in the cloud. Unfortunately, our current system is not able to support expanding to full 24/7 recordings.

Personally I think the short answer is, battery operated cameras would still run down to zero even with a USB charger.

It's a trickle charge better than solar and constant, but that's about it.

I use other camera brands with SD cards for 24/7 and not battery operated myself.
