Cutting the power cable for outside cameras - 2 red and 2 black

Hi there,

Has anyone cut/spliced their power cable for the external cameras? I need to cut one to feed through a tight gap and may also need to cut the other to extend it. Why they thought USB-A plugs for an external application is beyond me, but we are where we are.

Does anyone know the layout/config of the wiring with the 2 red and 2 black wires? Could they both just be pos and neg, or are the pos and neg and 2 x data?

Ideally rather than having to plug them into a USB port I would just hard wire them in a 5v/2a DIN rail transformer in the consumer unit and bin off the USB all together.

Any help/advice appreciated!
