SMS Alerts keep failing on Verizon flip phone

For the second time since the Verizon outage was fixed awhile back, I noticed my Simplisafe messages to my Verizon flip phone have stopped working. I went to my options to verify the phone and no code was received. I then re-added the phone and it seemed to work for the moment....some time later it stopped working. I re-add the number . etc.

My verizon smartphone seems to be working fine however. I'm not sure why this is and I don't feel as if the phone support would be able to help. Any input welcome.

Hi Carlton76,

So the alerts are getting to your smartphone just fine. But your feature phone either isn't getting the messages, or they're severely delayed.

For the feature phone, do you have the Smart Alert setting set to "Smartphone"?
The main difference is that the "Smart phone" option goes through MMS (multimedia messaging service), so it can support longer messages, among other things.

The non-smartphone option goes through SMS, which is text-only and supports fewer characters. So if your sensors and components have longer names, each alert might come through as multiple messages. However, they might come through to your feature phone a bit more reliably.

Originally I had the smartphone set for smartphone and the flip phone set for the normal Verizon non-smartphone option. This seemed to work fine for about a year now. I didn't change the names of any of my devices in that time.

As far as delayed messages coming through the flip-phone, they weren't delayed, they didn't come at all.

Yesterday I decided to set the flip-phone as smartphone in the app's options. It seems to be working so far. I am monitoring it to see if it fails again.

Thanks for your time, Johnny.
