Moving is way too complicated

Just spent 20+ minutes on the phone with support trying to get the moving packaging kit with replacement adhesives SimpliSafe promotes on their website. Ended up being way more complicated than it’s worth and I think having to pay shipping for some adhesives is tacky (esp when they may not arrive on time and getting them sent to the new address is apparently very complex).

anyone else have luck with this or do you have any competitors you recommend? Really displeased by this customer service for something they “offer” on the website

Hi @thisisjennings ,

I'm really sorry about this experience. Especially with charging you for shipping on a package that is already free! I will DM you to see if there's anything I can do to help.

@thisisjennings  You already went through the pain, but recommend next time do what my friend did when he moved from IL to TN with his SS3 system:

1. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a large pack of assorted 3M strips

2. Day of your move call SS to cancel monitoring

3. Move in day, put back up your system

4. Change address on web dashboard and start monitoring.

5. Call and tell SS to take you out of practice mode. Done.

Better idea, hold SimpliSafe's feet to the fire to make this an easier process for people to use one of the benefits SimpliSafe offers w/o a Lord of the Rings level quest. :)

Hey SS, how about just put up a form where users with an account can just log in, fill it out and let you know when to send them a kit? It's easier on the users and it has to be easier on your phone staff as well.

@worthing  Buying a package of 3M strips on your own is hardly a burden and you know you will have what you need when you have to reinstall your system.

No, it's not a burden in and of itself but if you're in the process of moving you already have enough to deal with. SimpliSafe offers this as a service for its customers and if given the choice between, "spend my own time and money for a solution" or "badger SimpliSafe to fix the issue on their end so they can provide the service" then I'm going with the latter. :)
