SSCM1 camera will not connect to system

We have a SimpliSafe system with 3 SSCM1 cameras currently connected and functioning properly.
I have bought two new SSCM1 cameras and BOTH will not connect to the system.

This is a picture of the Error Message.


I have turned OFF 5gHz.

Have done a camera reset 3 times.

Move the Base Station and Camera to the same room.

I am hoping someone can provide a solution to this problem.

Hi @RonWestman ,

Thanks for reaching out. The SimpliCam doesn't need to connect to the Base Station directly, so at least we don't need to worry about that. We're purely troubleshooting the link with the WiFi here.

Interestingly, that camera in your screenshot is showing up on the app, so it must have been able to connect at least once. Have you tried moving it to the same room as the WiFi router? If you already have that camera situated in the basement, it could be in a WiFi deadspot, and you might want to move it somewhere else, or install a WiFi extender down there.

Camera update question: is there a way to connect the camera using a cable? Wondering if there is an update needed to make it work properly?

@RonWestman​ The SimpliCam can only plug into its power cable, and it needs to stay consistently plugged in to stay on. Unfortunately it cannot be plugged into something like an ethernet cable. The SimpliCam also should have been shipped to you with the most recent firmware update already installed.

@tibsbulls A "Camera Disconnected" error generally means that the camera is having a hard time maintaining its Wi-Fi connection.

 

How far away is this camera from the router? It may help to move the camera and router a little closer together to see if that resolves the issue. It can also help to reboot the router by unplugging it for 30-60 seconds and then plug it back in.
