Outdoor camera wont connect to Wifi
After patiently waiting for the outdoor camera to ship on back order, it finally came. Set up figured to be a breeze like the rest of the system, battery charged, camera turns on, connects to the base station. But the final step; the camera will not connect to my WiFi! I did all the double-checking and troubleshooting but all for naught, then spent half an hour on the phone with tech support having me do all the things I already did with the same disappointing result. The tech suspected the antenna in the camera was probably faulty and they shipped me a replacement one. The new one came fast, in only about 3 days. But alas, THE SAME PROBLEM! I've double checked everything yet again and still this camera will not connect either. My WiFi works, the indoor cameras connect fine, all software is up-to-date, so what gives? Can it be that I've been sent 2 faulty cameras? Has anyone else out there experienced the same frustration as me?
I bought this system specifically for the outdoor camera, and how ironic that it's the one component I can't connect. I'm seriously considering ditching this whole system in favor of one that actually has outdoor cameras that work...

Had all the same issues. If it’s not the camera I’ll bet it’s the settings on your router. Affects the outdoor camera differently then the indoor cameras so just because one works doesn’t mean the other will.
you need to either change your Wi-Fis security level to wpa 2 or do what I did and create a guest Wi-Fi signal specifically for the camera and set that security level to the low setting. That way the camera has its own zone so to speak. After hours of troubleshooting with their support team and frustration I figured this out on my own and it worked right away. It will for you too

Was running into the above mentioned issues with brand-new cameras not connecting to Wi-Fi. Tried different cameras, Different routers, modifying router settings etc. Nothing worked.
The fix turned out to be simple.
Uninstalling the SimpliSafe app from the phone and reinstalling the app fixed all issues.

Same problem here. On the phone with tech support and for hours. Had me do various things. Then hooked me up to a specialist that had me do the same things again. Finally she said that they will send me a replacement. Got it today charged the battery. Started the install, home base said camera connected but when it tried to connect to the Internet I get the message something went wrong. I'm thinking of sending my entire system back for a refund. Definitely not spending more time with tech support. Something is not right with their camera with so many complaints for the same problem.

On the old outdoor camera I'm sending back we tried many things with the router that it took the base station offline and had to talk to a specialist that finally did something on your end to get it connected again. It also took all my other cameras offline that were working just fine. I'm not willing to go through that again. I have no problem hooking up other devices that need wifi except your outdoor cameras and by the look of all the posts a lot of others have the same problem. This is really ruining your image as a easy install company in my opinion.

Make sure you don't have two locations listed in the app.
You can check by opening the app and selecting the house icon in the top right corner.
Mine had two. My old address and new address. Not sure why this caused only the outdoor camera not to connect to wifi, but tech support removed the old location and reset the system and then it worked.

SimpliSafe is just flat out trash and will not protect your home or business, pay the extra money with real home monitoring
