iOS 16 Landscape Mode

Just tested out the rotation functionality on an iPhone 12 Pro Max. It looks like it's still working for me over here. The best option would be to try restarting your phone and the SimpliSafe app to see if that resolves it and brings it back.

My iPhone 14 Pro does not rotate to landscape.  Whereas my old iPhone that I switched from, an iPhone 12 Pro still switches - but I am running iOS 16 on the 14 Pro.  Could that possibly be the difference?

@alexandria_c​ Because I’m a developer and was using the iOS 16 beta that breaks the functionality with non-native apps such as yours. Your small development team took shortcuts building a code base that could be used both iOS and Android and doesn’t work natively on either platform hence we have these issues that either OS would provide a native app for free.  Penny wise and Pound Foolish!

I can confirm this. Three cameras installed and none can be viewed in landscape since iOS 16 update. We’ll hopefully see a Simpisafe app update in the next week or so. I understand that it sometimes takes some time to get updates through Apple’s review process.

please update progress on resolution of camera orientation as of today.  

Why is this taking so long to resolve? I also raise the issue about three months ago that the live stream from the camera keeps dropping it was found not to be a Wi-Fi issue, but one that simply safe was going to work on so that the camera doesn’t just get dropped after a few minutes of viewing. Any updates on this?

Still waiting for any update on the App to fix this issue.  All of my other apps have updated.

@davey_d​ JFK!  it's been a MONTH!  how about getting the landscape issue FIXED! along with ALL THE OTHER ISSUED SIMPLISAFE SEEMS TO BE HAVING!  having to log into the app every single time!  doorbell cam CONSTANTLY disconnects!

@davey_d​ any progress on fixing the landscape in IOS16?  It has been a couple months 

I can’t blame iOS 16 because everything else rotates, just not my SimpliSafe camera. It’s that “simple”.

The recording of motion detection can be viewed in Landscape mode, but not Live viewing

@timwmetz​ I thought it was me too.  Since updating to IOS 16, my iPhone 11 Pro will not allow landscape viewing of the SimpliSafe live shot.  I'm not having any issues with any other app, so SimpliSafe is going to have to figure something out.

@JeffG360​ not sure what you mean. I do agree with you that this issue needs to be resolved on our end.

@JeffG360​ have to agree with Jeff here. Apple releases a developer beta where app developers can test their app and versions for compatibility, months before the new iOS version is released.

IMO part of the reason the SimpliSafe app is so glitchy, and missing some first party integrations on iOS (like asking Siri to show you a camera in the app) is because they did not build their app natively using Apple’s development framework, but on a different development platform and then “ported” it to iOS. It’s a similar reason why Instagram (and some others) never work in landscape mode on the iPhone, and thus don’t work on the iPad well (not sure if instagram fixed this or not).
