Text Alerts Not Working

Hello! I keep my iPhone in DND mode because I don't like constantly receiving notifications. However, since iOS does not currently allow app specific notifications I cannot just allow my Simplisafe alerts to come through. It's either all or none. Then I discovered that there was a text notification option in the iOS app, so I thought that would solve my problems because I'm able to put contacts on Emergency Bypass so that their alerts come through with sound. I've added my phone number, verified it and put on Emergency Bypass. However, I'm not getting any alerts at all. None. The last alert I received from Simplisafe was to verify my phone number. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi @jess143ct,

The first thing we would recommend checking is if you are able to receive SMS alerts from us when your phone is not in Do Not Disturb mode. You can easily test this by making sure that General Activity (just Activity if accessing your account through SimpliSafe.com) is switched on for SMS notifications. Once General Activity has been turned on, Arming or Disarming your system should trigger an SMS notification to come through. Please note that notifications from SimpliSafe cameras cannot come through as SMS and are only available as Push Notifications.

Thanks for the quick response. ???? I confirmed that I do receive text messages from arming and disarming without DND enabled. I've since retooled my notification settings so that I don't need to have DND on, but I'm still not receiving a sound alert for when the camera detects something. Is that not something the push notifications can do?

Hi @jess143ct,

That's good to know that you are receiving those SMS alerts properly. Since SimpliSafe cameras don't send alerts through SMS, we'll need to make sure that they are set up properly for Push Notifications. One important thing to know is that Push Notifications for SimpliSafe cameras are set up on a per-camera basis and are separate from the Push Notification settings for your SimpliSafe system. To make sure that Push Notifications are set up properly for your camera, follow these steps:

  1. Open up the SimpliSafe app and navigate to the Cameras page.
  2. Tap on the ‚öô Gear icon. This will take us to the Camera Settings page.
  3. Select the camera that you would like to adjust Push Notifications for.
  4. If are adjusting the settings for a Video Doorbell Pro and would like to enable Push Notifications any time that someone rings the doorbell, scroll down to the Notifications section, and make sure that Doorbell Notification is toggled on.
  5. If you'd like to enable Push Notifications for any time that the SimpliCam or Video Doorbell Pro detects motion, scroll to the Functionality section at the top of the page and select the Motion Detection menu.
  6. On this screen you can toggle on the option for Motion Notifications.
  7. Once done adjusting any settings for your cameras, remember to hit Save.
