SimplySafe app on IPad will not rotate to landscape

I have a new IPad, and recently signed up for SS. I can access the system from my phone, IPad and laptop, but the app will not rotate to landscape on the IPad. Very annoying, since it is set up with a keyboard, which will not readily let me use the portrait mode.

Thanks for the suggestion. That's a very good reason to add landscape support! We've made sure to forward this to our development team for consideration.

I'm running into the same issue. Not only that, but I can't prop my iPad up in portrait mode on my desk if I want to use SS while charging the iPad as the charging cable interferes with that orientation.

I'm going to add my request for iPad landscape mode as well.  I use my iPad on the magic keyboard, it makes it awkward to us the iPad in portrait mode

+ 1 to requesting landscape mode on iPad. We have an iPad we use for home automation (lights, etc.) that sits on a bookcase in the living room that, every time we open the Simplisafe app, have to rotate to portrait mode (all other apps run landscape)

SimpliSafe is the only app I have that won’t rotate on my iPad and it’s very annoying.  This post was from a year ago.  SimpliSafe has seen this post but still hasn’t made the change.  Why not???

@Elton4505​ apologies for the inconvenience. As of right now, the SimpliSafe app is primarily designed for phone screens. If that changes, we'll be sure to keep you updated.

In the meantime, you can at least view your videos in landscape mode while in full screen.

@davey_d​ What exactly is the difference between a phone screen and an iPad screen? They both function the same way unless you lock the rotation on the device.

It's like this...   I've had your products for a while.  I do like them.  But I see some areas where they could be better with minor enhancements.  The app is just one area where it could be better; configurations is another.  What bugs me a little is that I haven't seen any enhancements to any part of the system since I've owned it.  Not one change or improvement.  That bugs me a little to think you're not thinking to stay in touch with your product owners and show them you appreciate them by listening and responding with updates.  Over time, when I find that these little things keep disappointing me, I begin to look for something else to replace it.

What is the status of iPad rotation? This becomes critical as cameras are added and you need to view the feeds.

I agree iPad rotation support should have been there by now.   Would be nice to have the support since you clearly support the platform but not in landscape mode.   Strange!

+1 on this. I've been thinking about adding a couple more cameras but now I'm not so sure. I may stick with using Logi cameras, no problem with landscape mode on that app across multiple version of Android and iOS on my various devices!

@hudsonp1477​ in case the above replies are not appearing for you; the current SimpliSafe app is designed for vertical orientation only. There is an active request on our Community for a landscape mode of the app, here.

But you do have the ability to play videos in landscape mode. When a video is playing, just turn your screen sideways, and the video should cover the whole screen.

(You may want to disable screen rotation lock, if you have that enabled)

The rotation for the camera used to work but now it does not.  Think it stopped after one of the IOS updates.  The App needs to be updated for the new OS.

Well, I'm not sure what happened but I can now view in portrait and landscape mode on both my iPhone and iPad.

The lack of landscape mode on iPads is a total rookie mistake.  SimpliSafe doesn't seem to be a serious player in this space if it continues to miss obvious features.
