Simplisafe App: Multiple Devices and Users

If you have multiple users that need to use the Simplisafe app, what is the best way to get this configured? Do we need to use the same login/e-mail to be configured on each mobile device/app? If so, would that be the main user with the master pin?

Hi Steelick,

Yes, currently each account supports only single-user login. So you'll just have to log into every device with the same username (email address) and password.

Once you're logged in to the app, you'll want to head over to Menu > Manage Account > Multi-Factor Authentication, where you can set up multiple phone numbers. So the next time someone else in your group needs to log in, they can have the verification code sent to their own phone.

@davey_d Thank you, understood!

@davey_d I have two phone numbers added to the mult-factor authentication, but when logging it, it does not ask which phone number to send the code to.  it automatically sends it to the first phone number that was registered.

Hi @shellinethercot ,

After you type in your username and password, you'll be shown to a page with the heading "Verify Your Identity". You should see your first phone number in the box (or rather, the last four digits of it). Tap that box, and you can select which number to send the confirmation code to.

Is Simplisafe working on making it possible to have multiple users? I want my kids to be able to check cameras and disarm but not change things. Having a single username and password is archaic and insecure. Is simplisafe working on improving and fixing this?

@Ifjom yes. When the feature is launched, we'll update the thread here.

@jdavidlove apologies, that's because a site issue is preventing replies from being visible at the moment. Here's the answer to the original poster's question:

Has there been any update for having multiple users?

Hi @MSStateDawg,

Currently, each account only supports single-user login. Our engineers are working on an update that supports multiple users, though. Once this feature is launched, we will provide an update in this thread.

following this thread - seems like there should be at least 1-2 additional users allowed.

I just ordered a system.  Are you saying that only one family member can access to door bell pro camera to answer the door?  And also be able to arm/disarm the system from their own phones?  That makes no sense.

Hi @kapu,

While the app only supports single-user login, that does not mean that only one member of your family can access your system. If you share your login credentials with your family members, they can log into the account on their own devices and access the system.

While other users can ultimately access the system through shared login info, the two factor ID still pings only the device that established the account.  So, those other users must then quickly get the code from the account owning device.  Instructions in this string say that you can add devices by going into the menu and working through “manage two factor identification”.  I can get there, but the option is not there to add device phone numbers.  Just tried minutes ago, (10:25 am 2/3/2023).

@marcycarteradams, I just attempted to set up Multi-Factor Authentication on my phone, and it gave me the ability to add a second number to my system. Once you tap "Multi-Factor Authentication" in the app, it will ask you to log into your account again. Once you do that, the screen should prompt you to "Add Authentication Method".

If this still isn't working for you, I'd recommend removing the SimpliSafe app from your device and then redownloading it.

Additionally, it would be nice to be able to assign employees their own app access without being able to change the master password and settings. This way, employees could arm/disarm the system and lock/unlock the door from the app when they enter the building.

Currently, if an employee signs into the app using the master password, they have full access to settings.

This is a pretty big deal and should be seen as an embarrassment that it's not solved. Multiple users with administrator directed permissions is a basic concept these days.

+1 on the ridiculousness of not having multiple logins. Your product team needs to make this a priority.

In addition to constant sensor issues, this is my biggest gripe. I'm regretting my purchase of this system.

@willjr16 so am I. This feels pretty basic for a company like this.

I thought it was just me having sensor issues over and over randomly. It seems to be a flaw and is really annoying and what's more it's the closest censor to the system control and is set perfect. Very annoying when all set for bed and getting censor errors

This needs to happen very soon. Multiple user account with the ability to select user or administrator permissions for each account.

How is Ring able to have unlimited users and SimpliSafe can’t even figure out how to have two accounts access cameras? I think this is a major disadvantage and I’m shocked it’s a problem in 2023

How are we still waiting on this VERY basic feature? I don’t get how a SECURITY company can think that it’s secure to have me sign in using my admin credentials on every family members device to be able to access our system. Even the budget companies have this figured out.
