We understand how stressful moving can be. We’re here to help you understand your options when it comes to moving, whether you’re taking SimpliSafe® with you, or leaving your system behind.
Below you’ll find some of the most common moving scenarios, along with our recommendations and best practices for each situation. Not seeing your specific moving scenario listed? Our support team would be more than happy to help you navigate moving with SimpliSafe®!
If you’re relocating your entire system to a new location, there are a few steps you’ll need to take prior to moving.
At your Current Location (Prior to your move)
Order a Mover’s Kit by calling us at 1-888-692-0229
The mover’s kit is filled with packaging and new adhesives for reinstalling your system at your new location!
Schedule your address change in advance, by chatting with our support team!
You can schedule your change of address to go live when you’re at your new location
Label your Sensors and Cameras
When removing them from within your home or business, we recommend labeling them for easy identification once you arrive at your new location
Prevent False Alarms!
Turn your system OFF by setting it to OFF within the SimpliSafe® App
Unplug your Base Station from power AND remove a single battery from it
To remove a battery from the Base Station, remove the power cable from the bottom of it to expose the screw. Then use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the battery cover
Remove your Sensors and pack up your Devices
If your sensor is in a bracket, remove the sensor before attempting to remove the bracket
Try rotating the bracket from side to side first to loosen it
If necessary, slide dental floss between the adhesive and wall to loosen it
At your NEW Location (After you move)
Certain Police and Fire Departments require a monitoring permit for security systems. You can check this within the SimpliSafe® App
Download a Monitoring Certificate and check with your homeowner’s insurance for any discounts
Some homeowner insurance companies may give you a discount on your plan for having a home security system
Teach SimpliSafe® your new Wi-Fi information if it has changed during the move
You’ll need to connect to Wi-Fi and change the Wi-Fi network for your cameras, as necessary
Mount your Sensors, Cameras, and/or Smart Locks
If any devices changed locations while moving, you can always rename the device/sensor or camera within the SimpliSafe® App.
If you need to reinstall anything, you can find the corresponding Installation Guides on our Help Center!
Update your Master PIN, Custom PINs, and your Safe Word, if necessary
The great part about your SimpliSafe® System is that you can mix and match what products and devices you take with you, or leave behind. We encourage you to take your Base Station and Keypad, but you can take or leave your sensors and cameras as you see fit! It’s important to keep the Base Station and Keypad together, as they are paired to one another. So if you plan on taking at least one, consider both of them to make the process easier for you!

If you plan on leaving your system behind for the next owner, or plan to purchase a brand new system for your new home or business, the best step is to call us at 1-888-692-0229 so we can go over your monitoring needs, such as transferring your service to a new system at your new location, or assisting you in cancelling your existing plan.
Once your subscription is cancelled, you’ll need to remove all cameras from your system. This includes Outdoor Cameras, Indoor Cameras (Smart Alarm Indoor Camera, SimpliCam®), and even Video Doorbells. This is to ensure that the new owner of the system can set them up on their account.
You’ll also need to remove any Smart Locks from the Device Settings tab within the SimpliSafe® App.
Once these devices have been removed, you’re all set to leave the system behind! The new owner of the property at that location will need to create a SimpliSafe® Account, then they can activate monitoring for the system.
