I am happy to report that I'm one of the lucky ones; got it earlier in the week and had it installed today. No problems whatsoever, it works as advertised. I had to replace my doorbell chime with a 8VA one (original was 6VA) but didn't try it with the old, as the recommendation was to go for 8-24V. Hopefully I won't find reasons to complain :)
