X-Sense SCO7-W and listener
I’ve tested a Kidde and the Simplisafe smoke detector within 4” of the listener and they trigger an alarm. The X-sense SCO7-W does not. With the listener in test mode (red LED on continuously) the LED blinks on alarm sounding just like with the Kidde and Simplisafe. It just won’t trigger an alarm. Sounds the same to me.
The Walmart page for the X-sense says it meets UL. Grok and ChatGPT says it does. Google search says it does. But there’s no certification label of any kind on the back of the detector.
Any advice much appreciated.

More on this- the listener seems to require three repeating patterns of three beeps to trigger. When you push the test button on the SCO7-W you get two patterns of three and it stops. So this won’t trigger the alarm. If you push and hold the test button then it beeps continuously not in patterns of three. Then this causes all the other interconnect detectors to also beep continuously. That’s great- it tests the interconnect but also won’t trigger the listener.
So with this X-sense detector the only way to test it with the listener and cause an alarm is to use real smoke. Then it issues repeating patterns of three.
I didn’t have a can of smoke detector test spray but AI said to use an incense stick and that did it.

Simplisafe- I talked to three support agents about this tonight and none of them knew the listener requires three patterns of three beeps to trigger for fire. Recommend you put this in your knowledge base they use.
Also your doc goes on and on about UL certification but doesn’t say what that means in terms of what the listener is looking for. I would have saved a lot of my time and yours if you also said “it needs three patterns of three beeps to trigger”.

Hey @avhjrpass thanks for your patience! I wanted to ensure I got the information from one of our Product Managers before commenting blindly.
The UL-related issue is nuanced; the SCO7-W "conforms" but is not certified. UL Cert is necessary for the listener to guarantee performance. We'll be updating our Help Center and adding additional training for our agents around testing patterns and standards necessary with the UL Cert. I'll update this thread once those customer-facing pages have been updated as well.
