Is there a way

Is there a way to silence an alarm trip without canceling the alarm condition with SimpliSafe?  Seems like right now they consider you silencing the alarm as an "all clear" even if you haven't even got out of bed yet to see what's going on.

Just adding this: In my mind, the sirens are to alert me about a trip and to alert an intruder that they've been detected.  The sound's job is done right after I respond but that doesn't mean I don't have an intruder.  I don't want to go sneaking around trying to figure out what or who caused the trip with the sirens blasting the entire time.

If I silence the alarm right now, the way it seems, SimpliSafe couldn't care less who or what it was intruding.  It could have been a meth head who attacked me but no help would be coming... because I silenced the alarm.

@jg668992 I am trying to understand why you would want to. Over the going on 14 years with SS I have experienced a few alarms (all false, about 4) and had a monitoring agent on my cell as I walked the house. Only once the police were dispatched on my request (I will spare you the details) but all ended up okay.

In what instance would you want to silence the sirens, noting that they are on for only x minutes and you can adjust that time.

@captain11 I guess we don't have the same experience as you.  We've been with them for about 5 years and whether or not they follow through on an alarm is almost comical.  We get a couple alarms a year and they are not false - it's usually one of my kids "invading" our home or once we had a mouse in front of the motion sensor.  The system detected motion and alarmed.  That's why I pay them.

Initially, they called immediately.  Once early on, I was out of state and my wife got and alarm. Simpli Safe called and was on the phone with her while she checked out what was going on.

We still get a couple alarms a year but I can't even remember the last time SimpliSafe called.

I did speak with them about why they don't respond immediately any longer and the gentleman told me the alarm had to be going off for at least a few minutes.  This was to filter out false alarms.

I was shocked.  He offered to give me the local 911 numbers but why would I pay them if I wanted to call emergency response myself?

So - If I can silence the damn sirens while I figure out what's going on, that would be nice.

You mention there is an option for siren duration - where is that at?  It's not in device.

I see it in the general settings.  Currently at 30 seconds.  I am having trouble believing I wake up, find my phone and turn on a light, find my glasses, type in the unlock code to my phone, open up the app, and whatever else under 30 seconds.

In fact, I am going to try it.

If it's actually only 30 seconds, I can live with that.

There's the rub....new policy of text /app messaging that, in theory, gives you the ability to dispatch "quickly" from your phone.  Last time we had a false alarm (well over 2 years ago) SS monitoring would call, usually within 10 seconds. Until reading your post did I remember the new app/text tools. Yes, I clearly see why you want to be able to silence the alarm. Mine is set to 4 minutes. If we are at home, my first action is to say "Alexa, turn on house lights" to light up our house inside and out like a Christmas tree of 11 IoT lights, and by then my Pixel is in my hand and I am using biometric face or thumb to get into my app.

I use the SS camera widget and scroll through 7 cameras to see what is going on in and outside of the house.

Now back to a key point you made: no call for several minutes.  I find that a bit concerning and will test that tomorrow when the Mrs is out of the house. I can understand a minute but a "few" is stretching it. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
