4g Replacement module no longer available ?
I'm in a bit of an unusual situation compared to an average SimpliSafe user. I used to own a house and used SimpliSafe for monitoring. 5 years ago I moved to an apartment complex and did not need home security system anymore.
Now I'm moving to a house again and I dusted off my old (Gen 3) hardware and logged into my account. I was promptly greeted by the message that the base station had a 2G modem and 2G service has discontinued . The message further mentioned that I could request a 4g module for free by calling customer support.
When I called customer care I was informed that they are no longer sending replacement 4G modules and I would have to buy a base station if I would like to use SimpliSafe.
This seems wasteful. I have perfectly good sensors, base station and keypad. The hardware is not too expensive (especially if I look for used hardware online) but I personally don't like e-waste.
I know I'm 2-3 years late in requesting a 4G module but I would assume they would still have the 4G module in the base stations they are shipping now. So the hardware should be available.
I would even buy the 4G module at a reasonable price if the offered it.
I doubt anyone would be in a situation like me, but I thought I would still ask if someone has recently tried to get a replacement 4G module ?
Does anyone know why they no longer give an option of replacing the module ?

@surdy It does sound a bit odd and suggest you call back and politely ask for a callback from a supervisor or manager
