@conortoomey95 sorry to hear that you haven't had the best experience. Hopefully we can help turn thigns around for you.
The "black and white" mode is likely Night Vision, which by default will automatically come on if there's not enough light in the room. If your camera is already in a room with good light, make sure that nothing is obstructing the view of the lens array.
@bill.maggie, if there is no color it probably means night vision is on and showing black and white. Go to the camera settings and make sure night vision is set to "auto". Then turn on a few lights or wait for a sunny day and view. Should be in full color.
I have the same issue...cams are set to auto and no color even on a well lit room. Turning off auto no problem..good video and bright with color. I have several Foscam cams and no issue on them switching to IR when dark and off again when light. Seems there is an issue with these cameras.
I know how you feel re that. complete nightmare. Found having phone on same wifi as the camera helped. I was on 5 on phone and 2.4 on camera and it took forever. doing both on 2.4 done it a lot quicker.
I'm having the same problem. Everything has a sepia tint to it. I tried switching off Auto night, to off. It made no difference what I set it to, everything remained sepia. I also tried, doing a reset and reinstall, with no luck, which suspected was not going to work because for the first time ever, the camera read the IQ code on the first try. That never happens. Calling Support now.
@sevensiamesecats That shouldn’t matter two hoots! Cameras and video since the early 2000’s have auto white balance. These cameras are Cheap! Did I mention the audio noise when viewing cams in live mode?
Same issues. Not happy with Simplisafe overall. It’s decent but the shortcomings like this add up to an overpriced nuisance of a system I can’t trust to keep my home safe. Valiant effort but just not there.
