It depends on what you mean by "Independent".
The Indoor Camera can operate as a standalone component, so it can be set up even without a main security system. However, it can be attached to a system through the SimpliSafe app, and then you'll be able to set the behavior of the built-in motion sensor based on the state of the alarm system. For example, when the system is armed in Home Mode, you can set the Indoor Camera not to trigger recordings.
The Outdoor Camera needs to be registered to the Base Station, so it cannot function without being attached to an alarm system. But in terms of motion alerts, it's currently designed to be active at all times, regardless of the armed state of the alarm system.
