Faceplate for Simplisafe Doorbell in Other Colors

I noticed online that BestBuy and Amazon sell Simplisafe doorbells that include three faceplates: white (cloud), black (obsidian), and mint (jade). When I called Simplisafe customer service, they did not sell the faceplates. Also, doorbells purchased directly from Simplisafe do not include the faceplates - they only come in white. Unfortunately, I bought my doorbell with the rest of my home security package through Simplisafe directly. Does anyone have spare black faceplates they could sell or give away? Could Simplisafe please sell the faceplates separately?

Hi there,

Yes, unfortunately those alternate faceplates are a retailer exclusive, and we currently don't have any available in-house. We'll let our product team know there's demand for it!

Yes please make the doorbell in black or add faceplates! In the market for a doorbell soon and looking at other doorbell manufacturers since they offer other colors than white.

Unfortunately no, we have no plans to release alternate face plates for the Video Doorbell at this time.

I did not receive any faceplates with my Simplisafe doorbell.  The white doorbell sticks out like a sore thumb against my brick.  Where can I get a black faceplate??

I got the black one and the mint / jade / tiffany blue ones with my Amazon purchase. Just pry it off from the top and  put the new on on from the bottom and you're good to go!

I agree it should be  either included or offered for purchase. I think I'll just paint my white faceplate black.  Overall I'm pretty disappointed in the doorbell cam. I don't think they devote much time to R&D or improvements.

Checked eBay, Etsy, Amazon today. No luck. Any updates for sources? I'm so tired of looking at how much the white sticks out against my red brick. I suppose I can just do what mhorst is doing! Heck might as well get blue paint to match my door!

@bullcitydave​ that's definitely an option. The faceplate is easily removable, and painting it won't damage the rest of the device.

Is there instructions or video on the cover removal to paint it?  Can it be popped easily while still installed on door frame?

@phossil​ We do not have a video on removing the Video Doorbell's faceplate; but if you run a finger along the side of the doorbell between it and the faceplate, it should pop right off. It can be removed while installed on a door frame.

Yes, this is ridiculous. I also requested a different angle mount (as directed by the simplisafe support website) and I was charged shipping.

1) I feel duped that there is not a black faceplate option included (would have purchased through another retailer)

2) It was far too much work to request another, appropriate mount and it should be offered at time of purchase to avoid paying additional shipping

Same here, I'm going to return mine & go back to my Nest doorbell. Every review I saw and unboxing shows two different faceplate options (I need black) I can't even find them third party through Amazon, Ebay or Etsy. They also should provide a side angle mount (like most other video doorbell competitors), not just up & down, most people have their doorbells mounted to one side or the other of the front door and to get full coverage of the front door I need to angle it about 15 degrees to the left.

@mattkrin​ sorry to hear about your experience.

The multiple faceplates are included as an exclusive with some of our retail partners. Best Buy, for example. But as an alternative, you can remove the existing face plate on yours to paint any color that you like.

We do have a horizontal mount available as well, that can angle the camera by 15º. It is not part of the initial package, but is included in the Wedge Kit, available from our support team. We should not be charging for shipping for this item.
