bracket for installing outdoor camera under soffit

Help system indicates that "If you mount the camera upside down , it will still detect within 15 feet." That is half the distance if right side up range of 30'. https://support.simplisafe.com/hc/en-us/articles/4407853925133-Installation-for-the-Wireless-Outdoor-Security-Camera in the TIPS FOR THE BEST PRODUCT PLACEMENT section

I need to install under a soffit and would like to avoid installing the camera up side down.

does anyone have recommendations for brackets that allow for installing right side up under a soffit?

FYI: I tried two kinds of brackets that I found on Amazon but neither allows for hanging from a soffit.

Captain,

Could you DM me this information as well? We just bought cameras (a year after your post) and there’s still no official solution for this from what I can tell.

Hi @captain11 ,

Just to clarify on Rule #6, we prohibit promotional posts specifically. I wouldn't count it of you were sharing info on a product that gets folks a bit more use out of their SimpliSafe equipment!

My camera is mounted upside down and it will not detect motion even 5 feet away. How can you have a company that is about home security and the most common place to mount exterior cameras is not acceptable? Simplisafe says, please mount your camera in an area that can be easily reached and removed by anyone over the age of 8.

@kstofkos Here is a photo of my front outdoor camera. Approx 8.5 feet off the ground, someone would need at least a step stool to get to it. AC powered, facing West, it picks up my entire front yard, driveway, front sidewalk, street and, if I didn't use the zone feature, 4 houses down the block. With 1.20 firmware update and pre-roll feature, motion recording is better than ever. I provide this to assist to explore how you can get your camera to work as it should.  My other outdoor camera, mounted directly opposite in the back corner of the house, faces East and works fine too.

@kstofkos Thanks for posting the picture. Question: What does your outdoor camera do when the latern if on and off that's in front of it?  I ask as the street light on our culdesac caused issues with the camera I posted and a small directional adjsutment made a significant improvent with night performance.

Hi,

I just purchased an outdoor camera and am also looking for a way to hang it under my soffit right side up.  Anyone have any ideas.

Thanks.

Never mind.  My wife walked outside and in 30 seconds told me a much better place to put the camera.  Being the good husband I am - I listened.  :)
