Battery for outdoor camera still charging after 10 hours.

I just got my outdoor camera, plugged the battery to charge -- and it has been already 10 hours and the 2nd diode is still flashing.  The paperwork and online info says it would take 5 hours.

I use the same AC-to-USB - A charger that I use for my phone.  The phone charges within 60 minutes.  I use the short USB-A to USB Micro B cable that came with the battery.  So the charger is good.

Any suggestions?

OK, finally after 11 hours the battery is charged.
So I see the need for a spare battery or a solar panel charger.  You do not want to have a single battery that leaves the system disabled for that long...

Hi @nahum,

It certainly should not take 11 hours for the Outdoor Camera's battery to charge, and using the power adapter that you use for your phone should be more than sufficient. The next time you need to charge the battery, I would try using a different outlet to see if that was the issue.

Same issue.  Defective batteries?  Mine is only two months old ...

@jptreiber The Outdoor Camera's battery should take about 6 hours to charge completely, it certainly shouldn't be taking upwards of 10 hours.

Do you know the output of the power adapter you are using to charge the Outdoor Camera's battery? We recommend using one with an output of 5 volts and 1.5 amps (or higher) - anything less could cause issues charging the camera. Most iPhone and Android power adapters have this output.

If your power adapter does align with this requirement, I recommend plugging the camera into a different outlet to see if that helps the battery charge quicker. But if using a different outlet still yields the same results, I would then reach out to our Support team, as there may be a problem with the battery.

@kevinkelly11 If you unplug the camera momentarily and then plug it back in, does the second LED light still blink? Or are all three of the lights illuminated, indicating that the battery is charged?

If the light still blinks, my advice is the same as I provided to jptreiber. I would recommend checking the power adapter used to charge the camera's battery and see if it has an output of 5 volts and 1.5 amps (or higher). That is what we recommend using to charge the Outdoor Camera's battery, as a lower output could result in longer charging times.

It may also help to change the outlet used to charge the battery to see if that could be the culprit.

But if the above tips do not help and your camera's battery still does not charge completely within 6 hours, that could indicate an issue with the device itself. In that case, please reach out to our Support team and they can help send you a new one.
