Motion Sensors through window

I have motion sensors in front of my  6 foot doors and they keep going off I was wondering if someone walks by the glass outside that would set her off or if the sun coming in will that send it off

Hi @virjo7118,

Our Motion Sensors work by detecting infra-red; that is, they're looking for sources of heat moving around in the room. Since glass is an insulator, it would actually block that.

It is still possible for powerful sources of heat to get through - especially sunlight. But it would also have to be moving around - say, sunlight flickering through trees.

So while an intruder at your windows might not be a problem, it still might be a good idea to point your Motion Sensors away from them.
