Door Chimes Not Working

Hello, I was please looking for some help for my door chimes no longer working on my siren. It is configured (on "high") for my separate add-on siren to make a sound for entry/door sensors. It used to, but no longer does (including when the security system is off and on "off" mode).

@davey_d Do you have any information or troubleshooting on this? Any thoughts on why or how this changed?

Sorry for missing this. I had a response typed out!

Are you missing only the Door Chimes, or is the Siren no longer making any sounds at all (countdowns, main sirens, etc). I'm not sure how long you've had it, but it does have an expected battery life of about 8-12 months, so it might be time to change out those batteries.

@davey_d No worries, thanks for the reply. It only stopped/is not making sounds when doors are opened. I replaced them fairly recently (and the first time in a few years). Usually from my experience, and from this particular system, it alerts you when batteries are getting low too, or at least we could tell the last time. In any case, countdowns and other noises are still coming from this device. I did try to toggle the setting, save it, then toggle it back, but to no avail.

Curiouser and curiouser. And the Door Chimes still happen on your Base Station, right?

@davey_d They did, but I have disabled them from the base station, as of right now (and for other previous troubleshooting).

@davey_d I'm wondering if this has anything to do with "Secret Alerts" now. I'm thinking it does? If so, I wish there was a way to have both features (where when the Simplisafe system is disabled; alerts/notifications could alert you when an entry sensor is open, but while also performing a chime).

Is there a way to confirm if this is it or not, or whether it could be? How does this functionality usually work. Weird thing is, one way or another I know the door "chimes" worked in the past.

Although I would have to review and test again, and check whether this is occurring when the system is on too, since I thought in the past it would still "chime" even when a door was opened with the system enabled in "Home" or "Away" modes; then the countdown timer would "beep" each time.

If you have the entry sensor set to secret alert when system is off the chime will not happen for that sensor. set it to disabled and the chime will work for that sensor.

Make sure the sensor is not set for secret alert.  This will cause it not to respond to a siron. Instead,  it will email or text y you.

Why does my door sensors not chime when open

I had to pull power and remove batteries to reset my system to fix having no chime or voice status alerts. This was weeks after swapping out to the 4g modem. Good luck!

@thatguy it's a good idea to perform a Base Station reset! It's just like restarting your phone or computer, and can help by clearing out and restarting the programming.

@ecarollo regarding those doors or windows that are having trouble - do you see the light flashing on the sensor when you open and close them? If not, the main sensor pieces may not be close enough to the magnets to register as closed. This guide on our Help Center can help with installation and potential issues.

But if you are seeing the light (one light for open, two lights for closed), that means the sensor itself is functional, but it's having trouble sending the signal to the Base Station. This guide on the Help Center can take you through some steps to resolve that.
