Any plans for HomeKit integration?

Are there any plans for also offering Apple HomeKit integration? The rest of my home automation is HomeKit based.

I don't use Alexa or Google.

Thanks,

Hi Lee,

Will it be compatible with the old SimpliSafe hardware, or only the new one?

Hi Lee.  Any updates on the Apple Homekit Integration?

Lee,
I would love to be involved with beta testing for HomeKit integration. I was involved with beta testing with Chamberlain when they introduced HomeKit intergration with their products.

Hi David,

We're not able to say exactly how new features will work. But the Alexa integration that we released recently is currently available for the All New SimpliSafe only.

I've been on the fence about switching to Ring or similar, I think my mind has just been made up. It's bad enough that there is no upgrade path from SS2 to SS3 despite the spectacular security flaws with the older system and the idiotic decision to make that system completely unpatchable. Now you're introducing backend features with zero hardware dependencies and limiting them to the new hardware just to push users into full-price upgrades. Add to that the fact that Ring has far less expensive service fees, and it becomes a very easy decision.

Very much would like to see HomeKit integration.  I have August locks, Phillip lights, Leviton switches and use Homekit for all of it.  For me Homekit with Simplisafe with integration of the August locks would be a total win.

Sorry, the decision to not be compatible was not at all idiotic.  You complain about the "spectacular security flaws" of the old system, and then want the non-encrypted flaws to be included in the new system?  Here's a thought.  Encrypted devices will never, ever, talk to non-encrypted (or even differently encrypted devices).  And non-encrypted devices will be totally baffled by encrypted communications.

As for updating the old system, sadly that is impossible, as the code is burned into chips soldered on the board.  So any upgrade would require new hardware, and the amount of upgrade possible is quite limited.  So if they are going to go with new hardware, they may as well fix the security flaws.  Which it seems they have done.

FWIW, Homekit is simply silly. Apple charges companies like SimpliSafe an arm and a leg and makes them jump through hoops for a system simply no one uses. That's why there are so few products that support it to date. You'd all be better off switching to literally anything else.
