Freeze Sensor False Alarm

I have a freeze sensor in my furnace room. It's where my hot water heater is and where my pipes come in, so it seemed like a good location.  Yesterday I got an alarm on it.  I went down and checked and the temperature was 73 degrees.  Are false alarms on freeze sensors common?

@usmaak I had a SS2 freeze sensor for 5 years and a SS3 since it was released and never had an issue. Are there any drafts in the area? (Don't even think that would be an issue). I would call support to ask; if you do please post your outcome here if you get the chance. Thanks!

Thanks.  Nope, no drafts at all.  It's an enclosed room with no airflow except for a vent that sucks air in from the basement and not the outside.

Maybe it's defective?

I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens.  I'd prefer not to have to contact support, if I have a choice.
