Is there a smoke detector in the base?
Is there a smoke detector in the base or do I need to purchase one separately? I have already purchased the system thinking that it came with a smoke detector.

The base is just the base, nothing more. You need to purchase a smoke detector separately.
Why did you think there was a smoke detector in the base? Is there something on the site that suggests that's the case? (If so, please share, so SS can change it.)

Hi tombenthall,
worthing is correct. The Base Station is a communication hub for all the components. It does have a built-in speaker for the main siren. But it doesn't have any sensors. Those are all separate components.
