How to handle a security door and Smart Lock?
Interested in how other Smart Lock users have their locks set up.
My main entry doorway obviously has the front door but also a steel security door (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Unique-Home-Designs-36-in-x-80-in-Su-Casa-Black-Surface-Mount-Outswing-Steel-Security-Door-with-Expanded-Metal-Screen-5SH202BLACK36/202098336). Both the main door and security door each have a deadbolt lock and a keyed door lock. When I leave the house or at night, anywhere between 2-4 of the locks are locked. Usually the deadbolt lock on each door.
I know this is overkill, but I do like having the security door.
So, does anyone have a set up like this? If so, do you use a Smart Lock on both doors? Or what changes have you made in how you secure both doors?
How weather resistant is the Smart Lock? If I installed on the security door, it would technically be outside. Probably not a good idea.
Not sure of the Smart Lock dimensions, but if I installed on the security door, I likely would need to remove the doorknob lock and move the deadbolt lock to the lower position so that the Smart Lock unit would have more backing. But then there is no handle.
Ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions?
