Overcharged Again

I was going to get a couple of locks from Best Buy, but they were out of the nickel once.  I ordered them from Simplisafe today, using the SAVETHIRTY coupon.  It accepted the coupon just fine, but then I was charged full price anyway.

Sigh.  This is the third time that this has happened to me.  Once with my full system when they charged me full price instead of the 50% off and once when I bought some sensors using, you guessed it, SAVETHIRTY.

I guess I have to call them.  I don't want to, but I suppose that I must.  I should have just waited for BB to get them in stock.  Their sale was only 25% but it all breaks even when you factor in shipping.

I used the coupon to get a second keypad. I'll have to look to see what I was charged when it hits my account Monday.  The only items I've ordered from SS are the ones that are not available at BB (either in store or to ship) like the CO2 detectors.  The price is usually the same, the shipping is free and a LOT quicker, and I get Best Buy points for it.

I've found that the site may accept the coupon, but usually the coupon code is expired

Unfortunately they appear to be completely out of the locks that I want, with the nickel knobs.  If SS won't honor the coupon, then they can cancel the shipment.  I'll just wait until the next time they are on sale.  Best Buy does periodically put things on sale.  I got two cameras for 50% off this week.  That's a great price.

@usmaak Half off camera? (Goes to BB.Com). Just got me one too!  Is half off something they've done before? Usually such a drastic price cut is a clue that they're trying to clear inventory for something new.  Wishful thinking, I know, but I'm still going to snag it this one... I've wanted a 2nd camera so I have one on each entrance & half off is a good reason to get it.

FYI:  

They've also got the nickel knobs you wanted 25% off.  I'm sure you saw it, but just letting you know just in case.  If you take into account Best Buy's free shipping, you may come out even better than SS's 30% off.

I think that they have similar prices at black friday sales.  I was barely into SS this past holiday season, so I can't remember exactly what the sales were.  I just know that they sold out quickly.

I have two cameras on my main level. I want a camera at the top of the stairs to the second level and in the basement.  I've been waiting, but couldn't pass up that deal.

And you're correct.  I am going to order the locks from BB and call up and cancel the SS order today. :)  The only good thing about ordering from SS would have been that I'd have 60 days to evaluate them, instead of the 14 that I get from BB.

I'm not really concerned with SS coming out with a new camera because I really like these cameras that they have now.  It does everything that I'd want a security camera to do.  And if they released a new one and I decided that I wanted to start getting new ones, I could find someone to buy my old ones at a decent price.

Aaaaannnndddd.  They shipped my order already.  So I'm going to have to call them and ask them to send me a shipping label so that I can send it back.  They do ship very quickly.

Aaaaaaannnnddd. I called them and got through to sales immediately.  I wasn't hung up on and they emailed me a return label.  I'll just have to watch for my refund once I ship it back.  That was surprisingly painless (assuming that I get the refund like I'm supposed to).

At least you've got some time before you need to use it.  Good luck! I'm curious about the lock's shipping speed.  When did you order it? I ordered my 2nd keypad on Friday and got a "label created' message, but FedEX has not received the package yet.

I ordered them yesterday afternoon.  I think I paid for USPS shipping.  I can't remember now.

Ordered on Saturday, SHIPPED on Sunday. I ordered on Friday, and nothing but a label created.  I'm not optimistic.

UPDATE: My keypad shipped out today from Massachusetts. It says I should get it tomorrow all the way in Tennessee, and I paid for the cheapest shipping.  Let's hope FedEX is correct on its delivery date.

Mine are arriving tomorrow.  I still haven't received a return label from SS.  Looks like I am going to have to call them again and I'm not hanging up this time until I see the return label sitting in my inbox.

I'm sending them back one way or the other.  If they would just give me the price that Best Buy gave me, I'd cancel the Best Buy order and keep them.  They won't do that, though.  They didn't even seem interested in honoring the SAVETHIRTY coupon.

I actually just acted like I was going to buy the locks again and the total came out to $160 with SAVETHIRTY.  Best Buy's sale came out to $162.  So if I could convince SS to just honor the SAVETHIRTY coupon, then I'd be fine and would just cancel BB.  I need to call them tomorrow anyway.  I'll try and see if I can convince them to give me the SAVETHIRTY price.  That would save me some hassle.

I talked to them and they told me that they'd take the 30% off.  Now I just need to monitor my credit card and call them back when they don't do it. lol

My Best Buy order came in today as well.  So it's either no locks or too many locks.

Well, returning to BB would be a lot easier, IMHO. It's crazy that you have to argue with them to honor a promotion THEY sent us!  It makes my head hurt. I hope when they get that new fancy call center open it has a much more comprehensive agent training program.
