Chime/Notification for Sensor Closed
I just got my system and am loving it!
One issue I have is that there is no notification beep when an entry sensor (door/window) is closed.
You get the beep beep when you open... but dead silence when closing up.
Every alarm system I have ever seen has one beep type for open and one beep type for close (number of beeps, tone of beeps, etc). It gives confirmation that the sensor is functioning and that the thing you just closed is, in fact, closed.
I figure this shouldn't be a huge undertaking. Just a small change in the code.
Possibly add a checkbox in the settings, in case some people don't want that notification.

Yes, please!! With small kids and an indoor-only cat, there's significant peace-of-mind in knowing that a door has been closed. Also, since there are no notifications, spoken audio, or chimes to indicate which door opened - then we don't know which door to check.

Count me in to those who definitely would like to hear a (slightly different) chime when closed.
Funny - today’s SimpliSafe newsletter says:
If you set an Entry Sensor to “disabled,” it won’t trigger your alarm — but you’ll still hear a chime when it’s opened or closed!

Agreed! This a must feature and we are shocked to switch over to Simplesafe and to not have a close notification for sensors. It’s actually stressing me an out a bit not having it.

Currently the base station only chimes when a sensor is opened, I would like the ability to have a chime when a sensor closes too.

At ATT Digital Life my system would chime when a sensor closed. This was very useful.
Sometimes Simplisafe does not receive a closed message. I find out next time I arm the system but that may be hours latter.

To expand on this, the ‘closed’ chime would need to 1) play a different sound (which probably goes without saying). 2) I’d also like the ability to send an alert notification if an entry sensor remained in the open state for greater than X minutes. Whether this alert is enabled or not and the max time before alert would need to be configurable per device as some doors such as garage doors stay open for longer periods of time than a door like a front door. 3) To expand on this, in the phone app, the “Overview” tab should have a list of open entry sensors. (It shows cameras and temperature plus a notification if errors are detected as it is today.)

Unfortunate that this request is over 2 years old. I've taken advantage of the money back guarantee and moved on to another service that has this feature.

SimpliSafe app developers should update the app to provide a timeline & of device history of all home devices, e.g., doors/windows opening and closing. This is very helpful for viewing which access points have been opened when the alarm is not armed. I would not have purchased a SimpliSafe system had I known this feature was not available in the app, since many competitors provide the feature.
