No keypad low battery warning

This morning when I entered my building, the keypad was completely dead so I wasn't able to enter my passcode, resulting in the alarm going off. I have no notifications on the app, email, or texting indicating that the batteries were low. Is there a setting I need to adjust to be sure that this doesn't happen again?

Hi @marycasteel ,

Right now no, there is no app or email notification for low battery on the Keypad. You won't even see an entry in the Timeline event log like you would with most of the sensors. This is because the system as a whole is able to function without the Keypad (which is essentially just a remote control for the Base Station). So as you may have noticed, the sensors can still trigger, an alarm can still sound, and you can still disarm or arm through the SimpliSafe app.

We do have an active request for the feature, which you can find here.

In the meantime, there is a Keypad Low Battery indicator on the Keypad itself, which starts to show up a couple of weeks before the battery dies completely. That should be every 9-12 months, depending on how actively you use the system. You could also get a second Keypad or a Key Fob, or use the SimpliSafe app.

The new dashboard is horrible.  The old dashboard would show low battery for the devices.  Why was this feature dropped?

@davey_d   If that's true how come I didn't get this indicator on my keypad or didn't notice it the last couple of weeks?  I would have noticed it for sure and was surprised when we got home this evening and the keypad was dark and dead.  Fortunately my wife has the app. and she disarmed the system before it alarmed.  Can the battery low indicator be tested?
