How to run 2017 Internet Explorer version of Simplisafe Wizzard in Microsoft Edge

Anyone know how to open Wizzard in Microsoft Edge.Edge is version 91.++?  I can set Edge to open websites in Internet Explorer mode, but I can't get it to run the Wizzard program. My Simplisafe system in the original, 2017 version. Or am I the only person still using the original version? It would be really swell if I could access my settings.  I hope this make some sense. Apologies if this has been answered somewhere in the forum.  I couldn't find it.

Hi llamero55,

Unfortunately, if you're trying to run the Easy Setup Wizard on a modern computer, it's unlikely to work. If you could somehow get the app code to work and open the right browser, you'd still need to be able to run Adobe Flash - which has been discontinued and disabled on most browsers.

The good news is that if you have a Gen 2 system (released way back in 2012) with active Monitoring Service, you can now actually use the SimpliSafe app - including the settings - at no additional cost. Check out my thread here for more info.

@ Johnny M.
So without an older computer or the more expensive Active Monitoring Service, those of us with the SS2 system are unable to make changes to our system?
I guess there's always the keypad, but that can be so tedious.

hondaman88,

Unfortunately so.

Our entire engineering team is focused on the current generation, so updating the Easy Setup Wizard (which mind you, was first developed more than a decade ago) just isn't feasible.

The latter part is a limitation in communication method; since the Gen2 system doesn't have WiFi, the only way for the app to communicate with it is through cell. That's why Monitoring Service (which of course enables the cell) is required.

(While I have used the following to open the wizard on my keychain, I didn't make any changes to update my system so that part is untested.)
I am in a similar situation so I found this link:
https://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/flash-player-in-chrome-is-dead-in-2020-how-to-play-flash-files/
Jump down to where it says: "Using The Adobe Flash Player In 2020 & Beyond"

The screenshots are spot-on, but when it asks for the SWF file I used the file "simpli.swf" in the "resource" folder of the keychain.
The wizard opens in the window and asks for the PIN.  Entering that takes me into the wizard with all sensors showing along with all settings.  Seems fully functional for our purposes.

Thanks hondaman.  I'll head down that rabbit hole shortly.  Without any prompting our system started making four loud beeps when we arm or disarm it.  I like to disarm it and open the house early in the mornings, but it will wake the wife up several hours early.

Is this going to be an issue if we upgrade?  How may years of service and support can we expect from brand new system?

@llamero55:  If you have an external siren, the 4 beeps are telling you it needs new batteries.  Good luck!

llamero55,

I can tell you that since the firmware can be updated regularly with fixes and more features, we're going to keep supporting the Gen3 system for a good long while.
