Are there issues with new activations for systems bought from 3rd parties (not SimpliSafe direct)?

There's a thread on the SimpliSafe subreddit at the moment claiming something I haven't seen here anywhere yet:

Title: DON'T activate your system if you got it from a retailer, there are currently issues with activating systems that aren't bought from SimpliSafe directly. 

Body: No ETA on a resolution either. Put it off if you can.

No source was provided so I am skeptical but if this is true can you make an official post here? This is also a great time to suggest that perhaps y'all set up say, status.simplisafe.com and use it indicate what is and isn't working. :)

Hi Worthing,

I have absolutely not heard anything similar to this. Retail systems are practically identical to those purchased directly, anyway. So I'd love to hear more about what kind of 'issues' this person is talking about.

I asked for a source and they didn't provide any so I'm about to moderate their post so we're not spreading FUD out there. If you do hear something please let us know.
